Lovingly restored stabling and milking wing of a Georgian Barn. The accommodation faces south onto the garden and attached to the main barn, equally aesthetically restored, forming an L shape and makes for a very sheltered sunny garden to relax in and children to explore. Claxby is a quiet rural village set between undulating wooded farmland and the steep slopes of the Lincolnshire Wolds, it is on the Viking Way and offers good walking and cycling routes. The nearest amenities are 5 miles equi-distant from Market Rasen and Caistor. Both towns have supermarkets, shops, pubs, restaurants and petrol. Our nearest pub The Hope Tavern, is a mile and half away.
We are 20 miles from historic Lincoln with its magnificent Cathedral and Castle, the Bomber Command Memorial and visitor centre, Doddington Hall & Gardens, and Whisby nature reserve. Other day trips worth taking are Louth, a busy market town which still retains a variety of small independent shops and Cleethorpes, a much-restored 50’s seaside resort. RSPB Far Ings nature reserve at Barton. The picturesque streamline Humber Bridge connects you to Hull, the newly energised ’City of Culture 2017’. This freshly restored city experience offers a day’s stroll incorporating the new city and marina with the old trading town. The Deep, Wilberforce House, Feren’s Art Gallery and free museums are all gems. The Lincolnshire Wold valley and villages have many surprises for the inquisitive. Cadwell Park for motor and bike racing, East Kirby Lincs Aviation and the Memorial Flight museum at Coningsby, both have Lancaster Bombers, and the National Trust Gunby Hall and gardens are excellent days out.
