Alnwick Castle (used as the location of Harry Potter’s Hogwarts) has outstanding gardens created by the Duchess of Northumberland, which includes a lovely woodland walk, a grand cascade waterfall and a restaurant within the largest tree house in Europe. Alnwick can be found by taking the beautiful coastal road heading north from the lodge.

The property was a converted garage, very small. No mobile phone connection, WiFi was not available for a couple of days and was very hit and mis. Shared door with owners, not very private. Nice garden but could not use for the owners constantly using it. Bare wires connecting television under bed. In the middle of an estate.

Response on behalf of the owner; I am sorry to say this customer did have a complaint. The guest arrived Saturday afternoon and we arrived back home from our annual break on Sunday afternoon. We were confronted by an irate guest because they had no internet from Saturday evening. It took the grace of God and three hours of hard persuasive work before a connection with a new internet provider was established.

A lovely chalet, very clean and well equipped. A beautiful outlook on to the garden (shared with the owner's property) with lots of outdoor seating options. The shower/bathrooms were a little tight for space but we managed with no problem. The bedroom was very spacious and comfortable with the bonus of a large screen TV. Jacqui and Paul were very hospitable (although we only saw them briefly as they were away on holiday for most of our stay). There was easy access to the coastal towns and beaches. We would definitely recommend this property.

Lodge is very comfortable and clean and well equipped. Great location for exploring the area and a superb country park and lake with access to a 7 mile stretch of beach within walking distance. The garden at the lodge is a delight, so relaxing and a wonderful place to eat, drink and read. The owners have put their hearts and souls into this place. So glad we’ve found this little gem and we’ll definitely be back.

Firstly the owners was absolutely a pleasure to meet. They were very informative about places to visit as it was our first time in Northumberland and it will NOT be our last. Sharing their home was a privilege to of experienced. The garden is absolutely beautiful to which they maintain even as we stayed. The lodge where we stayed was also beautiful. Everything you needed was there.I could even of moved in there. I loved it that much. My pooch loved it there too. So relaxing quiet just what I was looking for. Definitely we will be booking there again.

We were made to feel most welcome including a complimentary bottle of wine and a box of Thornton's chocolates. This was a lovely touch. The garden was outstandingly beautiful and we had use of all the garden furniture. The cottage is located quite close to Druridge bay. A seven mile stretch of beach running from Amble to Cresswell. Druridge bay Country Park and the nature reserve at Hauxley are close by. Amble, Warkworth and Almouth are short drive away. In fact, the cottage is situated in an ideal location for many of Northumberland's beautiful attractions.
