Description

Situated on the borders of Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire, this barn conversion has sweeping views over the Cherwell Valley.

Situated on the borders of two historic counties, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire, this detached, spacious and beautifully appointed barn conversion has sweeping views over the Cherwell Valley and to distant Banbury. The lovely garden makes a perfect setting in which to relax at the end of the day, and from here there is ease of access to the popular Jurassic Way footpath, providing excellent walking.
Swallow Barn is in an ideal holiday location to explore and enjoy the many places of interest and great scenic beauty in this area of England. The quaint and often unchanged market towns and villages of the Cotswold Hills are full of charm; there are many fine houses and gardens to visit, a superb Wildlife Park at Burford, several farm parks and Blenheim Palace at Woodstock. The elegant university city of Oxford has world famous museums and art galleries, and punts can be hired for an afternoon on the River Cherwell. A visit to Shakespeare’s Stratford-upon-Avon should not be missed. A guided sightseeing tour is available taking in all the memorable and historic houses and churches including the two great theatres where the Bard’s plays are performed.
The lesser-known picturesque villages of Northamptonshire include Ashby St Ledger - the home of Guy Fawkes (not open to the public), and Althorp, the resting place of Diana, Princess of Wales. The Silverstone Racing Circuit and Gaydon Motor Museum add further interest. Shop 2 miles.

We had a fantastic stay at Swallow Barn. The property is even better in real life than the pictures portray. It is a beautifully laid out property with lots of space and very well equipped. The decor is stunning and full of character. We had great fun with the pool, the table football and the snooker table and the surrounding area is ideal for countryside walks.

Great place for a group / family Pool is great fun and also plenty to do if rainy with pool table, board games, Dvd players etc Take your food with you or shop on the way as you cannot walk to a shop or pub - but that just adds to the tranquility !

This was the second time we've stayed at Swallow Barn in the last few months as we had a few family celebrations and we were quick to book the second after our first experience. The accommodation suited 10 of us well and the kitchen and living areas are large enough that you never feel cramped. The swimming pool is small but perfect for our young children and the snooker and football tables were also much used (although the pockets of the snooker table do need patching up!) and the large number of board games also welcome. The location is easily accessible from North and South and only minutes from the M40 but feels like it's in the middle of the countryside, it's also only 10 minutes from Banbury with large supermarkets should you need to stock up.

We have a great time in the Barn. It is a beautiful conversion with all the facilities that we needed for 8 people (3 couples and 2 singles). It was extremely well equipped especially in the kitchen. There was an ideal amount of room for 8 with more than adequate bathrooms, space, seating and activities. The small swimming pool was lovely and we had fun with the pool table and table football. We would certainly stay again if we were staying in this area.

We recently stayed at Swallow Barn and our whole group loved it! We particularly liked the cosy feel even though it is a large property and the swimming pool. The owner was on hand for anything we needed and was very helpful. Personally we would have appreciated more showers, there are plenty of bathrooms but only one with a proper shower. Our group are all shower lovers so we had to have a rota or use the hand showers in the baths. This is personal preference but worth knowing if you are thinking of going to Swallow Barn. Generally it is in very good condition and the decor is fabulous. We did find some areas which could do with a deep clean but appreciate it is in the country. That said we all had a fabulous time and would stay again.

Loved the barn - beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Lots to fun with the pool (it’s small but has jets to swim against) and there’s also pool, table football and games galore. Lovely walk along Jurassic way that runs out the back gate of the garden and it’s an easy walk to Middleton Cheney village pub ! Loved It here so much we have already rebooked for another weekend next year !
