We loved our Christmas break at The Retreat. Beautifully decorated, spacious and lovely views over the lake and hills in the background from the full length windows along the full length of the front of the cottage. Lots of lovely local villages and towns within an easy drive. The underfloor heating was fantastic when returning from days out in the cold winter weather. The cottage backs onto farm buildings however we were not disturbed during our visit. We were sad to leave and wouldn't hesitate in returning.

We loved our break away. The place was spotlessly clean and we had plenty to choose from near by, by the way of things to do. Please do be aware that this is on a working farm and therefore if you are partial to a lay in, it’s probably not the place for you. The cattle are kept just behind the barn and you are woken each morning by the sound of machinery around 8.30ish. The owners also live on site, to the right of the barn, so they are on hand if you need anything. Over all a lovely break away

We’ve stayed in many properties over the years and this one ranks with the best. The Retreat is well equipped and generous in quality, comfort and space. We had a wonderfully relaxing week watching the weather and sky changing all the time: we loved the floor to ceiling windows. In the evenings we closed the shutters and were really warm and cosy.

Really nice place to stay, so peaceful with stunning views, it was also very clean and very well equipped, only thing missing was a teapot. It is one of the nicest cottages that we have ever stayed in and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Response on behalf of the owner; I am sorry you were not able to give us a higher score than 5. Is there anything I could improve on to make it a 10.

An absolute gem of a place to stay all on one level so easy for mobility needs if required. So large and yet so intimate. The retreat if very clean and comfortable to stay in with all modern requirements in the kitchen/diner, lounge bedroom and bathroom. Plenty of utensils (shame there was no teapot) on the kitchen and a lovely oven to cook from if needed as we did. One side of the property is all glass with shutters to keep the place warm. Central heading is provided and continuous hot water provided. Once found the journey to Queen Camel was easy. There you will find a convenience shop selling practically everything twined with the Post Office. Gated property with a long wining drive. Car port provided too. Absolutely lovely. Easy journey to the coast at Charmouth to the south and to Bath and Wells to the north. Found very little traffic which was great! Pets not aloud.

It was a lovely place to stay with very high spec furnishings. I would suggest a dressing table for the bedroom as it is big enough to be able to accommodate one and would finish it off. We did stay on possibly one of the hottest weeks and we did find it difficult to cool the place so ended up closing the shutters to keep the sun out but there was a fan which we used in the lounge and was able to move it to the bedroom. The owner did say she had ordered a summer quilt which would have been better as we had the winter quilt on the bed, but again this was because of the exceptional weather. Overall one of the nicest places we stayed and added bonus of visits from the family pets being 2 lovely and friendly cats and a dog who also came to visit.

Stunning! Location, space & quality. If you like peace & tranquility then this is the place but have someone on hand if you need them. Lots to see and do nearby. Pubs/shops a bit of a drive away. Would definitely stay again if down that way.
