We knew the area but still found the exact location a pleasant suprise. It was, as we wanted near Dumfries, near the main roads but still very much a rural retreat. For a working farm it is very neat and tidy; some sheep cows and calves on the front lawn and a couple of very friendly horses in the adjoining paddock with extensive views across the Solway. Beautiful.

This was a lovely house in a quiet rural location. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The house was very well equipped and rooms extremely spacious. The garden was enclosed which was perfect for our dog. It's lovely that this is dog-friendly though owners need to be aware that dogs are not allowed upstairs, which was an issue for our spaniel who doesn't like to sleep apart in strange places. It would be helpful to state that in the information prior to booking. Otherwise, this was a perfect countryside retreat!
