We loved this country cottage with its attractive conservatory overlooking the ancient Waddon and Gerrards Hills. Good walks and wildlife. Comfortable bed, cosy log burner, most of what we needed in the kitchen. We’d definitely return. NB: no wifi, soap or hair dryer.

I have stayed at both of these cottages over the last three years and I have to say that Strawberie cottage is my fav. Would say that maybe the mattress could do with being changed as it is very hard and I can feel the springs in it. And also maybe more attention to the cobwebs that are hanging around. :-) One thing that really does annoy me though are you people who keep insisting on having a fence put up between the gardens. IT IS A SHARED GARDEN IF YOU DO NOT WANT THAT DONT BOOK THESE COTTAGES. If you cant confront people who do not pick up their doggies dos dos DONT BOOK THIS COTTAGE. Seriously people stop whinging about it. They perfect as they are.

Overall satisfactory except for 5 am fire alarm (found to be faulty) and inability to seek help due to no mobile signal.

Equipment:- Welcome flowers, box of biscuits and milk were a nice touch. The lack of internet and extremely poor phone signal meant it was very difficult to plan days out and take advantage of prior booking offers. Leaflets very much out of date. Good set of maps for walking. Knives were blunt. It took a while to locate instructions for appliances - they need collating into an accessible place. Hair dryer damaged by previous tenant so unusable. The TV is a little small for the size of the room. Conservatory furniture very tired with broken panels. Didn't have need to use the wood burner so can not comment. Cleanliness:- despite a weekly cleaner there were a lot of cobwebs especially stairs and first floor and the conservatory furniture had obviously not been moved to clean. Location:- A very peaceful cottage. Great wildlife. This is a very rural location with access down very narrow country lanes and this needs pointing out in the information as any vehicle wider than our Ford Mondeo would struggle. The local pub, although within walking distance, is very small (like a house front room) and difficult to dine at as it is always full and you have to book in advance which is often difficult when planning days out. Once out of the narrow lanes quite central for amenities and good road links. Avoid the Morrisons roundabout on a Sunday afternoon! Good reasonable food at various places in West Bay.
