Great location. The cottage had everything we needed and was a perfect base to discover the local area.

Ok but nothing to write home about. The location was perfect - disappointing not having WiFi, the sofa needs upgrading and the outdoor furniture need a jolly good clean.

In need of some updating and tlc. Good location to visit places. Great if you are a steam railway enthusiast. Would have been extremely disappointed if we had paid full price, especially compared to others we have rented before.

The cottage is fine and very clean. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. If you will be out exploring all the time then it is great. But it lacks comfort for a cosy night in. The sofa is very small and the bed is not comfortable- I am pregnant so comfort was very important to me. Also nowhere to walk your dog directly from the cottage. But it is in a great central location to explore the beautiful Cotswold and does fit its purpose.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that you did not find the sofa comfortable, I remember when I was pregnant how it is a job at times. The sofa is a sofa bed and is really the biggest we can fit in the cottage. I would have happily given you more cushions if this would have helped. Re dog walking, maybe I forgot to tell you but there is dog walking nearby, if you go under the railway bridge and on your left is a public foot-path which takes you up the hill and onto the Cotswold Way. Thankyou for your other positive comments.

We stayed at Mill House with our pet labrador, Roly, finding it very comfortable, well appointed and good value for money. I chose this cottage as it seemed good value for money and it certainly was. The cottage owner was very helpful and accommodating and can be recommended. I used it as a base to hike much of the Cotswold Way as it had good connections (Marchants Coaches) with Cheltenham (for onward Stagecoach buses which had excellent connections into and out of Cheltenham). My wife explored attractions in the area and our labrador accompanied me on some of my walks

It was cold and the snow was lying inside the sitting room floor. There were dozens of woodlice crawling all over. The shower was rusty. Kitchen no room to do any preparation of meals. as it was the worst weather the country had seen for years and the temperature at record lows it would have been nice for the owners to come and see if all was ok as I was staying by myself. My daughter decided to stay over as she was concerned. My holiday was ruined, Even thought the roads were closed due to the snow and police were saying dont travel the owners did not come to my rescue so I left in roads that were impassable in places.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am sorry that this guest feels that they have a cause to complain. I spoke to the guest several times on the telephone as well as speaking to her in person and checking that all was well. This was when I took spare bedding over to the cottage when she asked for it for her daughter. The details on the website do state that it is a small kitchen, I also find it surprising that wood lice were about as it was so cold. I would also like to point out the guest knew that it was very difficult for me to go over to the cottage as I have two fractures in my knee, and at the moment have crutches and a leg brace. The morning of her departure we were unable to offer an extra night’s stay as I had another guest booked in that night. We were also rather busy in my house as we had a major flood overnight, causing ceilings to fall in and a lot of other damage. With hindsight perhaps I could have told her about this but we were rather busy mopping up the house and trying to contact the insurance company.

A bit disappointed that it smelt of pets! I took my two year old toddler, dog hair everywhere and smelt of dog the whole visit. We had to buy fabreze and shake and vac to keep it fresh. Not really what I'd planned for our Christmas break!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I am sorry you were disappointed with the cottage. I did point out to you that we do allow pets into Mill House, you maintained that it does not say this on the booking site. I have checked and it is clearly stated that dogs are allowed. My husband checked the cottage before your arrival and did not spot any dog hairs and the cottage, he told me that the cottage did not smell. You did say your little one picked up dog hairs when playing on the carpet with play doh which is very sticky and therefore can pick up anything the hoover may have missed.

The cottage is more of a chalet. And I would'nt think it is for 4, depends on what you like and I would agree that the sofa needs new seating cushions. The cottage is everything you need for a holiday and if you like walking. The kitchen is small but o.k. If you need another work top you can jam the metal hot stand across the sink with the chopping board on it. There are lots of info in the cottage about the area and loads of walks they have printed off for you. There is a farm called Hayles fruit farm where you can pick your own apples and pears off the trees and pay for them in the shop and the Orchard café is fab. If you like walking I'm not too sure if there is a path to it. You can go by road but I suggest you drive slow. The Pheasant pub also does fab meals. You can go into Winchcombe town center (also fab) on foot and to supermarket. Walk down the lane where the pottery is (opposite the cottage lane) and walk behind the bushes (for safety) then turn left at the three ways house then straight down all the way. If your there on a Sunday you should try Rosie's for lunch, wow.
