Instantly charmed by Spice Cottage; it was cosy yet there was plenty of space for us (a family of six - M&D plus four "grown up" children). We loved the outside space; we didn't feel over-looked in spite of the proximity of our neighbours.

Lovely January break. Loved having the log burner. Nice enclosed garden for the dogs. The cooking equipment just need looking at and a few things replacing .Great having a pub on each end of the road, one being on the beach.

Initially the cottage appeared to be very nice. But there were a few problems: a dripping tap in the kitchen, the ice box in the refrigerator had a broken catch so, one could not keep any frozen food within - these faults had already been reported but not repaired; the decking outside was dangerous as covered in green algae, a hazard to walk on...especially when rainy or frosty! There was no child gate on the steep & narrow stairs. And last but not least the television did not work; a wifi connection fault, we thought. Thus we left a day early! we left the extra £25 gbp for the requested additional fuel charge, this seemed excessive

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The tap stops dripping when you tighten it after use with your hands. However, if you forget...it drips. The freezer compartment still works perfectly well, it’s just missing a clip to the side. We have never had a complaint about the decking before, it’s a small area of the garden and is laid so that it is supposed to be slip free as in laid left to right correctly and rough side up. We are not required to supply a child stair gate by the company for legal reasons. We do however supply a highchair and cot. The fuel bill is suggested by the holiday company but, we add to this free unlimited wood from our wood store for the wood burning stove that we feel is very generous and means you don’t have to drive to a garage for wood. It is also advertised and so guests should be aware of this prior to booking. Regarding the TV, sadly for her and her party obviously it seems they didn’t know how to use it despite the clear instructions we leave with it. It is satellite so, not an internet connection, being satellite means it always has a signal. You simply put the TV to HDM1, turn the FREESAT box on and it works. It’s also a SMART TV so Netflix, Amazon prime are also readily available. However had the guests contacted me at the time this could have easily been resolved. Naturally we are very disappointed to have received this poor review.
