A lovely cottage in a very pleasant and friendly village. Very picturesque, ideally situated for the beaches and travelling to a range of places. Peaceful and quiet. Lots of places to go to. Plenty of parking for our large car. House was a good size for three adults and two dogs. Garden was secure and nice for sitting in.

We enjoyed a wonderful family holiday at Speedwell Cottage. The only initial disappointment was that the Pub next door no longer serves food which was frustrating. The cottage is well situated for trips to the beach, Broads and Norwich which filled our week.

The cottage was set in manicured, matured, enclosed gardens. There was a well equipped kitchen, with a utility room off to the side. We were greeted with a tea tray and a bottle of wine. The steps were very steep, leading to a good size double and a twin. Bathroom was spacious, with a large walk in shower. Great parking, enough for two cars. On the surface it was fantastic but was let down only by the level of cleanliness, in particular the conservatory roof blinds and the inside of the airing cupboard. If you are over five foot five, don't forget to duck down through the upstairs doorframes.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are really pleased that you enjoyed the charms of speedwell cottage, we have asked the cleaning company to address the insects trapped in the conservatory roof blinds and to dust the airing cupboard. We hope that these minor details did not spoil your enjoyment and hope that you feel that you could pay a return visit.

Great cottage. Love it. Unfortunately the local pub is now rubbish. The Vernon Arms is good but a few miles away.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Lovely to see you back again. Unfortunately, the village pub is not doing food at the moment; they are still serving drinks, and have regular live music and a monthly pub quiz. The other nearby pubs are the Vernon arms at Southrepps, Foundry Arms at Northrepps, the Ship Inn, Manor Hotel, Haig Club and the Royal all in Mundesley.

The cottage was lovely but it needed a good dusting. Same areas light fittings skirting and carpets could do with a deep clean. This never spoiled our stay, just a shame as it really is a lovely cottage with a beautiful garden.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Disappointed to receive this feedback, the property is maintained to a high standard and we employ a professional cleaning company to prepare the property after each stay, in addition, a deep clean was carried out in the property in January. We are obviously pleased that you enjoyed your stay and will pass on your comments to the cleaning company, for their information and necessary action.

Unfortunately the cottage was a little on the cold side for a Christmas stay and on arrival the cottage stank of dogs. The mats in the lounge and the conservatory had recently been washed but not dried completely and I stepped on the lounge mat to light the fire which resulted in wet socks! Because of icy conditions during our stay the front path became an ice rink which made life very difficult as we were accompanied by a 91 year old. |However the cottage itself was well equipped in the kitchen which was also the warmest place to be in the cottage. Cleanliness was a little on the poor side as the shelving in the lounge was black! I cleaned the shelves as I put out a few Xmas decorations. The dusting had clearly not been done for a while especially the skirting boards. The conservatory was completely unusable as extremely cold/damp and dog smell. For dog lovers it would be a great place but not for none doggy people!

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. Immediately prior to your arrival we had the cottage redecorated, the carpets cleaned and installed a new Woodburner. The heating was turned up prior to your arrival, a bucket of logs added for the fire and the AGA was turned on. There is an electric heater in the conservatory to allow all year round use. We were therefore surprised to get this feedback. If you would like to discuss this further with us please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
