Description

With a beautiful sandy beach, mountain ranges, lochs and abundance of wildlife all nearby, Sólas is the perfect destination for a family holiday.

First Floor:
Bedroom 1: With double bed.
Bedroom 2: With twin beds.
Shower room: With shower cubicle, toilet and heated towel rail.

Electric central heating, electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Welcome pack. Utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer (shared with owner).

Decking area with garden furniture, BBQ and chiminea. Bike store. Private parking for 2 cars. No smoking.

Sólas is a two-storey apartment which adjoins the owner’s detached house and is located in the crofting township of Scullamus, where you will find facilities including restaurants, a pub, supermarket, chemist and post office. It is within close proximity of Broadford Bay with magnificent views over the mountains of the west coast mainland, as well as overlooking various other smaller islands. There are lovely stretches of sandy beach at Ashaig, where you will see an abundance of seabirds and so much more. The area has so much to offer, with plenty of wildlife to see, including buzzards, golden and sea eagles, otters and red deer. It is a great base to tour both Skye and Wester Ross. Boat trips from Elgol will take you into Loch Coruisk in the heart of the Cullin mountain range. This impressive loch is the spiritual heartland of the island and has been voted by National Geographic as one of the top ten most beautiful places in the world. Marine life such as porpoises, seals, dolphins and whales are frequently seen on the boat trips. Skye has so much to offer for the outdoor enthusiast, with activities such as hill walking, fishing, boat trips, kayaking and pony trekking, as well as the opportunity to discover the many art/craft galleries and restaurants. Plockton, Glenelg, Lochcarron, Dornie and Applecross are all within driving distance and offer a great day out. Beach ½ mile. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

    Enjoyable holiday overall though weather was very poor. Arrival details require updating as sat nav send you to wrong place. We had to get the owner to meet us.

    Lovely holiday cottage, extremely well-presented and equipped to a high standard. It is in a quiet location but only two minutes from the main road so is still ideal for touring Skye. Although the holiday accommodation is a separate part of the owner's home, it is very private and quiet. There are views of the Red Cuillins from the lounge and bedrooms plus views of the sea and mountains of Wester Ross from the master bedroom. A few minutes walk takes you to the water's edge and local restuarant. A few minutes drive take you to cafes, supermarket and petrol station in Broadford with easy access to the main road and links to the rest of Skye. The owners were very welcoming, even coming to find us when we couldn't find them! They were very helpful and available should we need them for any information or suggestions as to what to do in the area or where to eat. We enjoyed the Welcome pack goodies and the family hens' eggs. We would not hesitate to recommend the property and hope to be back again.

    The accommodation was exactly as described, comfortable and very well equipped. The owners were most welcoming and went above and beyond to help us out when our car battery died. The location was excellent, close to the Skye Bridge, so well placed for touring Skye and the adjacent mainland area. There are good services close at hand: supermarket, cash machine, petrol, a number of good restaurants etc..
