Description

With so much to see and do in this lovely region, you will be spoilt for choice! Relax on a sandy beach, pamper yourself at the nearby spa or enjoy a gourmet meal.

This detached timber eco lodge provides the perfect base to explore the north Cornish coastline and its many fabulous beaches, coves and dramatic cliff top walks. Snowy Owl Lodge is within the grounds of the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre, which has coarse fishing lakes and regular falconry displays (at additional cost payable direct to the Cornish Bird of Prey centre). Being close to both Newquay and Padstow there is plenty to see and do, from gourmet restaurants, among them Rick Steins restaurant, and artisan cafés and bistros to surf schools, sea fishing, cycling along the beautiful Camel Trail, to just plain lazing around on some of the areas best beaches.
Just minutes away is a spa for the ultimate pampering experience, along with a surf simulator and a restaurant run by an award winning chef. Several National Trust properties and gardens warrant a visit nearby, with the now famous Eden Project a 30-minute drive, and the Lost Gardens of Heligan within reach. Local nearby activities include surfing, tennis, golf and fishing.
The very different south coast is also easily reached and provides an alternative view of the Cornish countryside and coastline. It has a more subtropical climate with many secret coves and fishing villages to be explored, and Truro the capital has a theatre, cinemas and shopping galore - a great day out for all. Beach 5 miles. Shop and pub 3 miles, restaurant ½ mile.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room with French doors/kitchen with wooden floor. 2 bedrooms: 1 double with en-suite shower room with toilet, 1 twin. Bathroom with toilet.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Electric underfloor heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot. High chair. 42" Sky TV (basic package). DVD. CD. iPod dock. Electric hob. Electric oven. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Freezer. Wi-fi. Lawned garden with decking, sitting-out area and furniture. Barbecue. Shared grounds with woodland and fishing lakes. Parking (1 car). Welcome pack. No smoking. NB: Unfenced lakes in grounds, 30 yards.

Accommodation itself was good; comfortable, spacious and clean. My only bug bear; why supply a hair dryer and then not have a mirror up near a plug so that the hairdryer can actually be used!? Luckily I’ve learnt from experience and took my own mirror. Oven is also filthy. We got the feeling that tenants are expected to clean before leaving and that the lodge never really has a proper clean between hirers. The garden is awful; not secure for the dogs, and in my opinion not even worthy of being called a garden; the ground is uneven, muddy, not even a decent lawn. In fact, no lawn at all, just weeds and scrappy bits of grass. Also some dog poo left in the garden from previous tenants. The location, however, and the site was not so good. No amenities within walking distance, and the site was unpleasant. Lots of building work still going on, which meant that every time we walked the dogs (as we couldn’t just let them out in the garden) they walked in dust from the building works.

Lovely cottage and very quiet. Great accommodation with powerful showers and the sky tv was a great extra. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will book it again for our next trip to Cornwall.

A lovely lodge that is very well appointed and done to a high specification with lovely detail. Only downside was it being a bit of a building site as lodges next to it were being built. This didn't bother us too much as we were out most of the time and weren't planning to sit outside. It will be lovely once finished! Great location in easy reach of lots to see and do.

Our stay at Snowy Owl was relaxing, comfortable and quiet. We were advised that there was work in progress on adjacent property, this however was in no way intrusive. there are walks from the property with wildlife to be seen. The adjoining 'Bird of Prey' sanctuary is not to be missed. The cottage location is well situated for visiting many of Cornwall's tourist attractions.

Very enjoyable holiday. Loads of space in the lodge too. Even though close to the main road, the noise is minimal. Will look to stay there again.
