Perfect size for the two of us and very well situated for visiting many different places in the area. Loved the welcome basket provided which was a lovely personal touch.

A cosy and homely cottage in a tranquil setting. Just a stones throw away from York and other major places of interest. And to top it off, less than a minute to the pub - just across the road!

The cottage was really well equipped, well decorated with attention to details . It is close to nice walks that our dog appreciated. It also had parking in front and a lovely village bakery. We definitely appreciated the goodies in the hamper. The shower was good and hot. However, cleanliness was poor and although the bedding was clear, the beds were uncomfortable like on a cage making a lot of noise while tossing and turning. The cottage although cute with decorations, all items where in need of serious dusting giving the impression of dirt everywhere. This includes the bathroom which had even black spider web on the wall. The cottage also had many woodlice crawling everywhere which was not appealing. The outside of the cottage and garden also needed attention too, with the gates falling apart. Overall would not come back unless those points were fixed.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments they are much appreciated, however we are saddened and surprised about your remarks regarding cleanliness. The cottage is 200 years old and as with all old buildings dust settles, especially with the wood burner in use. No one has ever mentioned wood lice before as a problem, however when there is large amounts of rain you do see the odd one, as mentioned before the cottage is very old. Beds are a personal preference, the base is slats so isn’t as solid as a divan base. We have not had negative comments before about the bed. We do wish you could have contacted us whilst you were staying to resolve any issues, your feedback in the visitors book was really positive.

Very pretty and well equipped cottage. Good location for Flamingo Land and York. Excellent baker in village. Also nice pub, countryside and church. Probably not so good for children under 3 as stairs are very steep and second bedroom goes straight onto steps rather than landing.

A great little cottage and fab village location. A dog walkers paradise, in striking distance of the East Coast as well as York. A real gem of a cottage and would recommend.

Excellent base for walk/ visits around North York Moors. Comfortable and quiet dog friendly cottage. Very relaxing. Lovely welcome hamper. The village bakery makes delicious bread, pub friendly although suggest you drop in, with and book for dinner in advance as struggled with walk in bookings. Both dog friendly too
