We found the location of the cottage good for visiting castles owned by Scottish National Trust, which our English National Trust membership gave us access to. We also visited the coast a few times. There was little choice of places to eat out, near by, in the evening. The courtyard outside of the cottage could have been made more attractive to sit out in. The kitchen was very well equiped.

For peace and tranquillity this property could not be beaten, being at least half a mile from the nearest road it was blissfully quiet. The period furnishings were also very much in keeping with this unique cottage. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. However there were some big buts; the beds and settees had seen better days and the bathroom was dreadful. The toilet seat had been incorrectly fitted so the seat would not stay up. Each time the toilet flush the whole plumbing system vibrated and made a dreadful noise. The sink was semi blocked and took ages to drain. The chains for both the sink and bath plugs were missing. The sink plug was attached to a boot lace. The bath was badly stained. If these issues were addressed this would be an amazing property that we would certainly return to many times however as it stands we will not be returning.
