Take in the panoramic loch views, and maybe even the Aurora Borealis whilst staying at this cosy cottage!

Single Malt Cottage is a most charming, purpose-built cottage for two guests. Stylishly furnished and equipped, it makes for an enjoyable stay and the owners are on hand to assist with any queries and to give advice on places visit. With fine quality bed linen and towels, and a selection of local interest books, the owners have thought of everything to ensure a relaxing and special time awaits. Situated in the crofting township of Geary on the Waternish Peninsula, the detached, single-storey cottage lies on a working sheep farm with horses and enjoys uninterrupted panoramic views across Loch Snizort and the Ascrib Islands, and further afield to the Outer Hebrides. The area has much to offer outdoor ethusiasts, and there is walking, birdwatching and spotting wildlife such as dolphins, minke whales and basking sharks which are regular visitors to the loch. Historic sites to visit include the Trumpan Church and the Fairy Bridge. Lochbay is only a short drive away where you will find the oldest pub on Skye, restaurants, art galleries and Skyskyns Tannery. Guests can also visit the Lochbay Restaurant, brought to you by Chef Patron Michael Smith. The Waternish area has three Dark Skies’ viewing sites - with no light pollution you are able to get full benefit of the night sky, and maybe even see the Aurora Borealis on frosty nights. The island has so much to offer in the way of visitor attractions, dramatic land and seascapes. Beach 3 miles. Shop 10 miles, pub and restaurant 5 miles.

The cottage was warm and very comfortable, with all the equipment we needed. We loved the view from the sitting room window, and found the gathering of birds before going to roost at night very entertaining. It was also god to be visited by a rabbit in the evenings!

Only 8/10 for local amenities but I chose this location as it was quiet, relaxing and didn't mind a drive for bread and milk. You can't hear cars or modern life. You can hear the cockerel, sheep, sea, birds and you can see if your lucky starry skis, northern lights, dolphins, sea eagles and deer. There's plenty of places locally to visit or drive or just put your feet up and relax.

The cottage was perfect but it was far away from all the places we wanted to visit and walks we wanted to do. So we had to drive more than we would have liked.

Very comfortable and well appointed cottage with breathtaking views and way out of the main traffic on Skye. The owners are very welcoming and helpful and provide heaps of useful local information.

We don’t know how this cottage made it into the luxury collection, it was really cramped and uncomfortable. Cheeply finished and looked like it had been furnished from a car boot sale. It was so bad we cut our holiday short and came home early

    Response from:

On our welcome we always ask if everything is okay and make it clear that we are available should you have any questions. We asked why you were leaving and was told that it due to work commitments.
