We had a wonderful week at Shedperd’s Cottage in Broad Campden. The walk across the fields into Chipping Campden was perfect for us and our pup! We would highly recommend this cottage and will definitely be looking to stay again! The welcome package was a lovely surprise - milk, eggs, jam, butter and fresh bread. A really nice touch. The secluded garden was a great place to relax in the evenings and was a great little sun trap. The location of the property was ideal. Great walks on the door step and easily accessible by car to many other beautiful villages and attractions nearby.

A characterful cottage in a lovely village setting. Nicely maintained etc. Stairs a little steep and difficult to use. The only drawback is that the cottage does feel cold, particularly in the open plan living room, even though the weather was quite warm outside. It's heated by electric radiators which I should imagine would get very expensive to use in cold weather in order to keep warm. There is a woodburning stove but that is a bit complicated to use unless you have one yourself. I wouldn't therefore choose to stay there in the winter or even autumn/early spring.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Firstly we would like to say that we are pleased you liked Shepherds Cottage. In relation to the heating I would like to say that if it was a little chilly in the evening all that was needed was to flip on the radiators to take the initial chill off, no issue with expense as all the electricity costs are included. I am not sure why the wood burning stove was considered difficult to use as there are instructions in the appliance file in addition to a laminated sheet on how to use it next to the stove. It would have been laid for you and ready to go. Personally we find it very warm and cosy and quite attractive to sit in front of. Not sure what to say with regard to the stairs as thought they were ‘normal’ and have never been mentioned before.

Beautiful cosy cottage, spent the week before Christmas there which made it even more perfect, frost outside with the log burner on was lovely, really clean and internet kept the kids happy, regarding the hot water I thought it was ok, get a nice hot bath then put the immersion on for 30 mins and it's ready for another bath, no problem, village is nice and only 20 mins to Lower slaughter and Stow on the wold, the Hosts are really nice, had a lovely welcome pack and chocolate Santas for the kids, would definitely stay again, perfect for exploring the Cotswolds.

The cottage was lovely. But there was some issues not enough hot water to have bath, really looking forward to having a bath but not enough hot water. The cottage is tired and it is not luxury cottage, the floor tiles in the bathroom are coming up. Just needs a re-decoration and then it would a make a difference. Also parking - we parked at Campden Gate - owners of Campden Gate arrived on the Wednesday and then they parked where we supposed to park . The owners should give a proper parking place just for Shepherds cottage. Owner came around to see us, which we did not want to see them as we did book through an agent. We did ask at the time if owners were next door and was told they lived in London. Just felt it invaded our privacy.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Parking in Cotswold villages is often a problem but Shepherds Cottage is lucky in that it has adjacent parking. On one occasion you had to park on the left rather than the right hand side of the driveway. We cannot understand why this was a problem. There is always a parking space. As for our “coming round” we merely enquired once whether everything was satisfactory which we do when we are there. We had no other contact and we should emphasise that the cottage and its walled garden are entirely self-contained and separate from the house. As for the decor and decoration, clearly everyone’s taste is different - the cottage is deliberately decorated in a traditional style including many antiques but is also equipped with luxury bedding. Any faults in the cottage are promptly dealt with and the cottage is closed for 2 weeks each January to redecorate. We always try to present it in a pristine condition. During February 2018, a new hot water system was added to the property, increasing the water capacity by 80%.

Great cottage, great location. Flowing fields one side of gate, a great pub (Bakers arms) the other side of parking
