Shepherds Cottage is tucked away at the end of a narrow road an dif you are looking for a nice quiet "away from it all" place to stay this is it. It is a large three bedroom bungalow with plenty of room for six people with a large lounge and a kitchen diner with all conveniences. While the furniture is a little dated everything is spotlessly clean and you have everything you will need including central heating and a fabulous log burner to make cooler evenings toasty and cosy. The area is central for exploring the Border region with loads of hiking and walking places if that is your thing. There is a road in a dip in front of the bungalow but we never heard any traffic even with the windows open and the views from the front are wonderful. The nearest place to shop is Lauder which is not very big so if you want a "shopping experience" you will have to travel a little to perhaps Jedburgh or Kelso. It is so quiet and peaceful and the only down side was (when we went) that there was no Internet/WiFi. We were made very welcome by Caroline and assured that if we needed anything we just had to ring or text her. There is, if you need it, a very good takeaway in Lauder that will deliver but please make sure that you give them exact directions to where the cottage is, we used it one night and even after a little directions hiccup the food was still hot and delicious. (Leaflets and menu are in the cottage). So if you are looking for a very nice, comfortable, clean, relaxing, spacious place to stay, THIS IS IT!

A cosy single storey cottage on a friendly family farm, ample space for 4 to 6 people to enjoy the Scottish charms and tourist attractions. Kitchen and dining room well equipped for holidays. You don't notice the road noise from inside the cottage. You need transport to get to shops and local attractions. Only a 40 minute drive North to Edinburgh.
