Description

A superb base for walking, cycling, climbing and riding, after a day out exploring return home and enjoy the wood-burning stove.

Shawside is set in stunning, peaceful countryside within a short walk of The Roaches, a beautiful part of the Peak District ideal for walking, cycling, climbing and riding. Buxton is a 20 minute drive, Leek 10 minutes, though the main road is almost entirely out of sight and sound from the house. Shawside is a classic Victorian Staffordshire farmhouse and barn conversion set in four acres of grounds, with unrestricted views along a moorland valley and very few buildings in sight. In summer the heather blooms turn the valley a gorgeous purple. Shop 3 miles, pub 1½ miles.

Beamed living room with wood-burning stove. Sitting room with Bechstein grand piano. Dining room. Well-equipped kitchen. Utility with Belfast sink. One step to bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. First floor: Double bedroom with exposed trusses. Two beamed twin bedrooms. Bathroom with separate walk-in shower and toilet.

Nicely converted spacious and well-equipped cottage/barn in a quiet location with stunning walks from the front door. Fairly remote moorland position but plenty of amenities at Leek and Buxton closeby and in the Peak District generally. Poor wifi speed and Rayburn oil-fired cooker were only slight downsides. We would stay again.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. Thanks to the new mast nearby, we now have unlimited WIFI and the speed now seems to be very good.

Great house in a fantastic location for getting away from it all, but with a lot of local activities and two nice towns nearby in the form of Buxton and Leek.
