Our third time at Shalom. As always it was a lovely experience and it is situated in the beautiful Holywell Bay. The bungalow itself is becoming a bit tired and it is basic- there are no frills in this holiday cottage. The girls shared the second bedroom and had to have the window open as it smelt. All in all though Shalom is well situated and if you have a National Trust membership card you can park free of charge at the car park by the beach. A point to note that Shalom never has the small things you get in other properties that previous guests leave behind like salt, pepper, oil, etc. Even our slow cooker that we left behind after last years visit had gone and was not available this year.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with your time at Shalom. The bungalow has been repainted throughout at the start of this year, and things that we considered to be worn or tired have been replaced. Previous comments have been that it is a “home from home”, with a well-stocked kitchen in particular, so we consider this to be better than basic provision. We are sorry that there was a strange smell at that time, but this does not appear to have been a problem for any other guests. The caretaker cleans out old foodstuffs left behind each week, for hygiene purposes, and leaves an ample welcome pack that is enjoyed by many. We are sorry to hear that the slow cooker was no longer there, but unfortunately things do sadly occasionally go missing, and if our caretaker is informed that an item has been left behind, she is happy to forward it to guests’ homes.

We have stayed in Holywell bay on numerous occasions this cottage was like home from home although right at the top of the hill. The enclosed garden was great for my dog Alfie and you could see the see and over looking the golf course although very private would definatly stay again.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful setting definately would go again the whole family (2 teenagers 2 adults and 2 dogs ) loved it .The only downside is the price increase in school holidays. Nothing else to find fault with . Great place to stay.

Cottage its self was clean, but the garden had a LARGE amount of dog poo which we picked up to stop our dogs stepping in it and bringing it in!!! Can I suggest rather than signs on bedroom doors saying no dogs not allowed, how about a sign on back door saying pick up all your dog mess! Also had a fuse blow on the first night and no where in the house brochure did it explain where the fuse box was; how about a sign on the cupboard where it is located. Luckily we had a torch and eventually found it. Rather tired decor, would it really cost much to have proper wardrobes?

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are sorry to hear of your difficulties with the dog excrement and fuses; this is the first time these have been mentioned as problems as we do encourage our guests to clean up after their dogs. However, a new notice will be added to state this again and a note will be put on the fuse box cupboard. The décor is refreshed annually at the start of the holiday season, together with furniture and equipment being fixed/updated/replaced on an ongoing basis, as necessary, and we feel that the wardrobes are ample sizes and in keeping with the style of the property.
