The picturesque village of Plockton makes a delightful base for touring the area and gives easy access to the Isle of Skye.

This lovely holiday property (one of three) is set in beautiful, landscaped grounds with spectacular views across the Sound of Sleat to Skye and are only 500 yards away from the shoreline and village of Balmacara. The property is ideally placed for exploring some of the most dramatic scenery in the West Highlands and visitors can enjoy private fishing on hill lochs during their stay. Minutes away by car is the enigmatic Isle of Skye dominated by the Cuillins, Eilean Donan Castle, the pretty village of Plockton and the Five Sisters of Kintail. The breathtaking drive across the ‘Pass of the Cattle’ leads to the village of Applecross, recently featured in Monty Hall’s Great Escape on BBC television. Experience wildlife safaris such as marine life, sea/loch fishing, water sports and magnificent mountains for hill walking, climbing and biking. A network of National Trust paths, signposted from the grounds of Sgurr Mor, affords views of the surrounding area. Shop and pub 500 yards and excellent restaurants in and around Plockton.

I can’t stress enough how fantastic all the views were, didn’t matter the weather the area was unbelievably beautiful. The view from the “cottage” more a maisonette or a flat really was outstanding. But the living room itself was tired, the advertised satellite TV had no card so only 5 channels were available. No Windows opened so on warm days the room was unliveable, the same with the front bedroom. The bathrooms had issues one toilet wasn’t useable and there’s no shower. The washer dryer were in an exterior basement which for 10 days had no lighting and the dryer didn’t work anyhow. The dishwasher worked when it felt like it. The garden was large, but not enclosed and shared with 2 other apartments. The Wi-Fi worked well although outside the kitchen the signal was week. The local amenity’s were shocking. Not a single takeaway I would have given a second chance and very expensive. The only local bar wasn’t dog friendly.

A lovely house in a stunning location. A good set of binoculars will allow you to watch otters on the shore. We had a Sparrowhawk in the garden which was also stunning. Fantastic base for exploring the area. The open fire was fantastic. Only thing I could say could be improved is having a proper shower, rather than shower heads attached to the bath taps. We already knew about this so were prepared from other reviews but loved our stay and would definitely return as there is so much more to see. A week was not enough. Loved it.
