This property is part of our Scottish Country Cottages collection

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

The picturesque village of Plockton makes a delightful base for touring the area and gives easy access to the Isle of Skye.

These three adjoining holiday properties (refs SMMC, SMMD and UVO) are set in beautiful, landscaped grounds with spectacular views across the Sound of Sleat to Skye and are only 500 yards away from the shoreline and village of Balmacara. The properties are ideally placed for exploring some of the most dramatic scenery in the West Highlands and visitors can enjoy private fishing on hill lochs during their stay. Minutes away by car is the enigmatic Isle of Skye dominated by the Cuillins, Eilean Donan Castle, the pretty village of Plockton and the Five Sisters of Kintail. The breathtaking drive across the ‘Pass of the Cattle’ leads to the village of Applecross, recently featured in Monty Hall’s Great Escape on BBC television. Experience wildlife safaris such as marine life, sea/loch fishing, water sports and magnificent mountains for hill walking, climbing and biking. A network of National Trust paths, signposted from the grounds of Sgurr Mor, affords views of the surrounding area. Shop and pub 500 yards and excellent restaurants in and around Plockton.

Entrance hall. Three steps up to double bedroom with 6ft bed (zip & link can be twin beds on request) and en-suite bathroom with toilet. Double bedroom with en-suite Jack and Jill bathroom with bidet and toilet (access also from hall). Further large double bedroom with 6ft bed, access to Jack and Jill bathroom, rosewood floor and feature panoramic windows. Cottage is well located for making tours to Eilean Donan Castle and the Isle of Skye, View from the living room and from one of the bedrooms was stunning, the other two bedrooms were quite dark Overall impression of cottage: smelled humid/fusty, not very clean, a bit neglected, of two bathrooms only one was furbished with a shower head in the bathtub (no shower cubicle!), the other had a bathtub and carpets

Bedrooms musty. Everything really outdated. Tv and cd player didn't work.

As a last minute replacement the cottage was fine. There were only two issues really. First, although there were 2 bathrooms neither had a shower. Second, there was no balcony to sit outside and soak up the sun

    1. There was no indication that the house wasn't suitable for people with mobility problems, yet the entrance involved steep downward steps with no handrail. There were also many internal steps. Before my joint replacements, I would not have been able to be left there on my own. 2. Ventilation is poor in lounge and kitchen as venetian blinds prevent windows opening. 3. Main bedroom ensuite had loose toilet seat, no diffusers on taps resulting in water all over the floor (also true of the kitchen) and a panoramic clear glazed window looking out to the car park. 4. The very comfortable, spacious beds (2 singles pushed together) had inadequate bedding - too small for the beds. The huge sofa in the living room had cannibalistic qualities and swallowed users whole. 5. There was no indication that the other adjoining houses we're partially downstairs flats. We didn't realise this until late in the week - our downstairs neighbours weren't so fortunate. 6. Generally, this house was expensively, stylishly furnished, but with a complete lack of common sense.
