Visitors can enjoy access to Sewerby Hall Estate and Gardens (seasonal opening times apply). The hall, restored in 2014 as a country house circa 1910, displays impressive historic interiors, nationally important furniture which is on loan from the Victoria and Albert Museum London, and a collection of memorabilia that was once owned by the famous local aviator, Amy Johnson. The 50-acres of grounds offer spectacular views over Bridlington Bay and include award-winning landscaped gardens and numerous woodland walks, with a huge variety of wildlife. Children will love the fascinating collection of animals in the zoo, including penguins and ring-tailed lemurs. The estate contains a 9-hole pitch ’n’ putt golf course, 18-hole putting green and a children’s adventure playground. The Clock Tower Cafe and Stables gift shop both offer 10% discount on selected items for visitors staying in the cottages. A short walk leads to the beach, or alternatively visitors can board the Land Train for a cliff top journey to Bridlington. The traditional resort of Bridlington appeals to all ages with its bustling harbour, historic Old Town, The Spa Bridlington and miles of sandy beaches. Local places of interest include Flamborough Head with its famous lighthouse, RSPB Bempton Nature Reserve with unrivalled views of puffins, guillemots and kittiwakes, whilst inland lie the scenic Yorkshire Wolds, inspiration for the famous paintings by David Hockney. Shop ¼ mile, pub 200 yards and restaurant 400 yards.

We enjoyed a family weekend away with our grown up children and partners. The Cottage is perfectly situated and we enjoyed the free entry to Sewerby Hall and all its attractions. The cottage is fantastic...no complaints from us and we will be staying again in the future. we ate at the Ship Inn and the food and service was excellent and another night we dined at "Rags" in Bridlington, the food was excellent but the service a bit slow. We can also highly recommend Marton Grange Farm Shop. Perfect Weekend for us. Brilliant parking space outside the property and the estate staff are very warm and friendly. Top Marks.

This was out second stay at the cottage. It is ideal as is all on one level. Option of walk in shower as well as bath is great for those like myself with mobility issues. Appliances all work perfectly so it feels like a home from home. The beds we all found to be a little too girl but apart from that most other things were ok. And I suppose beds are a very personal preference when it comes to firmness. Ideally located within easy distance from all locations so a good base to travel all around the area. An easy 2 minute walk to the cliffs. There are some steps down to the beach within 5 minutes but for those less able there are quite a few and could be challenging. Lovely to have says off driving and use the land train to bridlington. Check times of going on later season like October etc as can be a more limited service. The zoo is a lovely addition. There are plenty of other games including golf and orienteering as well as easy access for coastal walks. A lovely cottage for families with older relatives due to ground level and en suite bathroom in second double room. Would recommend to anyone. The staff at the hall, zoo, cars, shop etc are always really friendly and approachable. Our only annoyance on this visit was that ths bath mats supplied were black and full of hair. I did mention this to the office who said they would address this with the cleaners. I bough one's from town and took them home with us. I left theirs in the cupboard for them to remove and replace.

The cottage is furnished to an excellent standard. The grounds to Sewerby Hall are beautiful. A short walk to the coast. A short walk to a pub. A short drive to Flamborough Head and Bridlington. Will definitely re-visit.

This was our second stay at Chesnut Cottage. Once again it met all of our requirements and provided us with a comfortable base, with access to many local amenities, especially the park.

Chestnut cottage is a gorgeous place and with free access to Sewerby Hall and Gardens it is even better!! When we were there they had a family fun day too and they have us a free round of golf, free return trip on the road train and you got money off in the cafe too! The cottage was clean, cosy and beautiful with a lovely garden for the kids. Thoroughly recommend
