Description

Repose Cottage boasts lovely views and has plenty of nearby activities; there’s a beach, wildlife and loch angling found locally.

Repose Cottage is a well-appointed, semi-detached property adjoining the owner’s home in the crofting township of Crossbost in the North Lochs with outstanding views over Loch Leurbost, open countryside and several other small lochans. Set in a very central location for exploring all of the area, the property is 10 miles from the main town of Stornoway which has much to offer in shopping, restaurants, museums and An Lanntair – Lantern art centre and cultural venue. Enjoy days out visiting the historical sites of the Callanish Stones, Carolway Broch, Ness Heritage Centre, Bosta and Great Benera. Blackhouse Village is also worth a visit or just enjoy the pristine sandy beaches on the west coast. Uig Bay is where the famous Lewis Chessmen were found. There is an abundance of wildlife nearby and it is a birdwatcher’s paradise, and loch and sea angling can also be found locally. Boat trips depart from Stornoway, Uig and Great Bernera for whale or dolphin watching and also further afield to the Shiant Isles and St Kilda. Owners were lovely, milk, wine in fridge and biscuits in cupboard on arrival. They were very accommodating with ferry cancelation causing delayed arrival. Not for disabled, stairs to double and single bedroom. 2nd single bed in the double. Roof tiles rattling in the wind, kept me awake in the double. Local amenities - as its and small Island, as expected Local amenities means main towns, a drive away... no pubs, shops within reasonable walking distance. Added where I parked onto Google maps, as there is another "Seaview" private house in the vicinity which Google takes you to. Use Seaview @ Repose, or just Repose which is the owners attached house to "Seaview @ Repose" cottage. Picture makes it look like its standalone and single storey. I wouldn't describe it as a cottage, but a 2 bed semi detached house.

Cottage had everything we required. Very comfortable and cosy. Great view over the Loch always changing with the weather . Situated in village which was very good for travelling to other part of the island. Would recommend to all our friends and family and would use again .

Comfortable, well equipped and clean cottage which is in an ideal location for exploring Lewis and Harris. Excellent for two or three people but it would be a tight squeeze for four.

This was our second visit to Seaview and it hopefully won't be our last. It is clean, comfortable and beautifully presented, with lovely views over the loch. There were three in our party this time (two last) and I feel that although the property sleeps four, we would not have been so comfotable if there had been a fourth guest as the lounge and kitchen are quite small. It is conveniently located for visiting the north of Lewis and the south of Harris and within easy reach of stunning beaches and intersting historic monuments/buildings. Dun Carloway broch is fascinating and impressive, but not as much so as "our" brochs in Glenelg (Dun Telve and Dun Troddan, the best preserved brochs on the mainland, located in beautiful Gleann Bheag). We can recommend The Anchorage Restaurant at Leverburgh, good food, very welcoming and dog friendly. We were made very welcome at the start of our stay and appreciated the wine, biscuits and all of the other little extras provided. We loved our stay, had a wonderful holiday and can highly recommend this lovely cottage. We also found the return ferry fare from Uig-Tarbert to be very fairly priced, with the crossing itself adding to the overall enjoyment of the holiday - we even saw dolphins! We'll be back!
