Needs updating. Could be cleaner, quite a few cobwebs around the place. Enclosed garden very overgrown, lots of trip hazards. Saying that probably more suitable for a family than a couple.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are sorry that your visit was not perfect. We are carrying out a program of refurbishment on the cottage which in parts is nearly 300 years old. Over the winter months we have painted most of the rooms in the cottage and put up a new garden shed and painted the old. We have new flooring in the entrance hall and bedroom. New flooring is due in the front bedroom and a new built in wardrobe in the fall. We have a regular gardener and I will check that this schedule is being maintained. The garden does grow very fast, especially with the recent good weather but we do prefer the green look as it keeps it private from neighbours and passing walkers. It is a lovely sun trap. The garden is wheelchair accessible with a ramp. We are aware that the metal foot of the whirly-gig pops up at the back of the garden but this is hidden under a rock to prevent trips. We try to keep on top of any tiny cobwebs and are reluctant to spray poison due to small children and pets that come to the cottage that may have an allergic reaction.

My only regret was that l should have booked two weeks instead of the one, the cottage was relaxing, even through it was VERY HOT outside, when the tide was in it you could just sit and listen to the waves crashing onto the rocks, there was a shop in the village or you could go a couple of miles to the co-op, l will be booking this cottage again in the future.

The cottage's location is absolutely wonderful, fantastic sunsets , really peaceful and quiet just the place to relax , and enjoy. But inside was another story there is no comfortable place to sit in the cottage the beds and settee were most uncomfortable the one in the twin room especially it looked broken. The bathroom- is so cold, with only one little bath rail in it. The kitchen- the cutlery and plates and glasses where not clean, we had to clean them before using them. We had to move the kettle in the kitchen as the kettle and dishwasher when using together kept tripping the electric, personally think the electric's need looking at. We couldn't use the garden as the sliding doors , there was something wrong with opening them we did have a message from the owner saying that a handy man would come to sort the problem out, the message was sent on the Sunday but nobody arrived. It said on the write up that the first set of logs would be provided, only ONE log was left to start the fire. Think they need new cleaner.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay in our cottage. We send welcome sheets out to all of our guests explaining that it is a very old cottage in parts, and we ask that all guests contact us if something is wrong and that they also please contact us if they break or damage something, sadly this never happens. We have a mix of newly purchased sofas from a well known Swedish retailer and some classic Danish designer chairs. There are 3 sofas in the cottage plus tub chairs and the armchairs and we have never had any complaints about them before. We found out that a previous guest had broken 1 of the 6 castor's on one of the single beds and not reported as we request to us. We have replaced all the castor's on both single beds. After investigation we found that the underfloor heating in the bathroom was broken but there are 2 other heaters in the bathroom, a heated towel rail and an overhead hot air convector heater. We do ask guests to contact us during their stay if something is not working so that we can help resolve any issue. The underfloor heating has been fixed. The crockery was a vintage set and the glazing crackled, the glasses dulled from the dishwasher, we have replaced all crockery and glasses with new and reduced the settings down to 6 which makes it easier to keep clean. We have had an electrician check out the wiring in the kitchen and family room and they were not able to find any fault. With reference to the sliding door there was a misunderstanding, we were waiting on the guest to respond that it was ok for the handyman to come in. The sliding door was usable as it was only a handle on a double door that had come off, but there is also a separate door into the garden so access to the garden was not restricted. We can only apologise for only 1 log, a previous guest had used up all the logs from our secret stash, the cleaner tried to compensate with putting out extra kindling. In future we have asked her to get some driftwood off the beach as there is lots. We have passed all your comments onto the cleaner and set up a checklist system.
