The coastline offers a mixture of sea-washed pebbles and vast expanses of sand. The iconic picturesque Lakes of Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere are all within easy reach as well as the Eskdale Valley with great walks up Engalnd’s highest mountain, Scafell Pike. If you’re looking for a great day out, why not take a ride on La’al Ratty, a narrow gauge railway that is a must in this this part of the world taking you to the Roman port of Ravenglass. The nearest town, Whitehaven has all the usual supermarkets and branded stores for shopping as well as a good selection of restaurants, bars and cafés.
