Sandown’s golf course is also close by. Nearby attractions include The Needles, with chair lift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Historic places of attraction include the 17th-century Calbourne Water Mill, Carisbrooke Castle, Tennyson’s home Farringford, and Osborne House and Gardens. Historic Yarmouth is worthy of a visit and the island can be easily explored from the open-top buses that stop regularly at various collection points across the whole island. Blackgang Chine, the oldest themed attraction in the UK is nearby, and further island attractions include Ventnor Botanical Gardens, Isle of Wight Pearl, Godshill Model Village and a donkey sanctuary. Great location near the beach, quiet area. However the house is in desperate need of redecorating/refurbishment, it all looks very dated & tired. Visitors have been complaing about the bathroom door since 2015 & it still sticks! The 2 vegetable peelers need replacing, there isn't a potato masher or a pizza slice, most of the plates are chipped. There were no dishwasher tablets left, I would have expected at least a couple. The garden is not at all inviting, half dead plants & plastic animals. It's so tiny, it really wouldn't cost very much to get it looking nice. On the bright side it's close to the beach & shops & we had brilliant weather so didn't have to spend much time there.
