Cottage is in an excellent location close to the beach, a good pub just round the corner and an excellent restaurant (Sun Dancer you need to book) near the harbour. Parkings not very good, the cottage is in a narrow cul de sac, we had to park in a nearby street. The cottage itself is well equipped but in need of a refurb. Taps loose in bathroom, socket loose near fire in sitting room, toilet loose, silicone in bathroom has black mould on it and I’m not sure if it has a septic tank but there was a very distinctive smell. Beds comfortable, sitting rooms ok to sit in when not going out. One big concern was that it only has one entrance/exit which is a bit of a concern if there was a fire. Didn’t notice if there was a smoke alarm, fire extinguisher or fire blanket but there is a carbon monoxide alarm. If you get the time check out Channery Point to watch the dolphins but you need to check the tides.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We have responded before to other comments on the parking and as said it is just possible for two cars to pass on the street and would advise on reversing down the street where there is room to park even a large car. Alternatively, it is possible to park at the end of the street, just check with the lady that lives in the end house. The cottage itself is an old fisherman's cottage and dates from a period before there were cars and so the street is in character with the area. The street is very quiet as there is no through traffic. We are sorry you noticed issues with the bathroom etc. and wish you had mentioned them to our caretaker. The issues have been addressed but if you had mentioned them at the time some of them could have been done immediately. We have no idea what smell you are referring to. There is no septic tank and no smell whatever in the bathroom. The property has just had it's inspection/grading visit and no concerns were raised. We note your concern about the one entrance/exit in the property but would like to point out that this is covered by the fire risk assessment. It is a feature of many properties in Fishertown due to there original purpose and the age at which they were built. The fire risk assessment is on prominent display in the property and if you had read this it would have explained the escape routes from all the rooms in the property. It also details the location of the smoke alarms, fire blanket and fire extinguisher and that there are emergency lights and a torch. If you had raised your concern to the caretaker she would have been able to point this out to you.

Fantastic little cottage ideal for couples, the stairs are very steep so do take care when either going up or down. Cottage has everything needed, great location, nice location to stroll along the beach or go travelling as we did

Was only 2 sets of bathroom towels until i rang Sarah who nipped in n put 2 more in, parking is dreadful, daughter in law got electric shock from hairdrier, extension cables under the bed cos no other sockets available for charging fones etc( n no pat test tickets either) plug sockets in general are very awkward to remove plugs n some sockets loose, lots of dust under the bed but only noticed cos i were looking for a plug socket, on the plus side, amazing location, very homely, cosy and well equipped (prob more glasses than any of the pubs and more crockery n utensils than any of the cafes) very warm after a cold walk, plenty of games, books, dvds and a Wi that we took advantage of, loads of charm, but in need of a bit/lot of attention to upgrade, maybe its a sentimental thing that stops the upgrade, but when renting out then Safety must come first
