Water pressure in the kitchen was a bit slow. If you wanted a bath and had some mobility issues it was not easy to use. Had one issue but Elaine and Derek sorted that out straight away on the same morning as we told them. Lovely people.

We have just returned home from an amazing week in York! The cottage is beautiful, blissfully quiet and extremely well located for exploring an ancient City. Well equipped and very comfortable

Very clean and comfortable cottage. They have got everything you need in a cottage. It was fairly easy to get to Askham Bar Park and Ride to go to York. Only downside is that there is no shop in the village, hence you need to drive to everywhere. Mobile signal was not great.

Fantastic all round stay at this wonderfully location cottage, that had all the equipment and facilities, extremely clean and three very comfortable beds. Askham Bar park and ride minutes away for those excursions into York, but the most perfect location for exploring the many NT/stately properties within a 40 mile radius. Definitely in the top three cottages that I have hired in Britain and Europe within the last 25 years- excellent value!

Best cottage we have stayed in. Spacious and wifi worked well. Smart TV was a nice touch & the welcome cake was also a nice touch. House well stocked and good quality provided.

A delightful village location yet very close to the City of York which is accessible by car, bus or, when it's available, water bus. This boards just outside the Ship Inn which provides excellent food and drinks that are very welcome after disembarkation at the end of a day in the city. Accommodation was first class, very well equipped and spacious for the four in our group. A short drive to Bishopthorpe gives access to butcher, baker, Co-op and more good pubs to eat at. 10 out of 10!

Very clean, comfortable and generously equipped accommodation; everything had been thought of. The only minor things that let it down were a lack of outdoor space or a view but I appreciate that there is not much the owners can do about this.

Attended our daughter graduation at York University. Lovely cottage in a village outside York but very easy to drive in from there or get the park and ride at Ashkam Bar. This is also very near a large Tesco supermarket to cater for all your needs. The cottage is superb. Very high quality fittings, lovely wooden furniture a home from home. Unfortunately I did not find the seating in the lounge the most comfortable, nor the chair at the desk, but not the worst I have stayed in. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to cook with (the best equipped I have seen) the washer and drier were superb. Very quiet although the bedroom next to the cottage gets very noisy when raining. Ideal location for visiting York without having to be amongst the hustle and bustle of the city. Absolutely lovely the cake left for us on arrival and the starter packs of coffee tea and milk were a very nice touch. Thank you.

The cottage was beautifully furnished and had everything you could possibly needed. The home made cake and bottle of milk in the fridge for a cup of tea after our journey was very welcome. location was good, a lovely pub the ship inn was only five minutes walk away and served very good meals. We caught the river bus service into York on the Sunday, it was a lovely way to travel into York and would recommend it. We would love to return to school cottage in the future.
