    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; I'm sorry I couldn't reset central heating but as explained I was 200 miles away. You had got the controller at the cottage. I'm sorry also you locked yourselves out. Delighted there were enough positive things that have enticed you to book a week in May at the cottage. Hope your next visit is less eventful. Look forward to welcoming you back. Thank you for choosing Sawmill Cottage.

We had a great week at Sawmill Cottage, the cottage was very comfortable and cosy with everything we needed for both humans and dogs. The location was superb, extremely peaceful with fantastic views, great walks straight from the door and the sound of the river when you opened the windows. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds extremely comfortable, the bathroom is sumptuous with a lovely deep roll top bath. The shower would be challenging for anyone over 5’7 but I’m not so I enjoyed it. My only niggles are the lack of usable work surfaces in the kitchen (I make a mess when I cook) moving the microwave up onto a shelf would greatly improve the kitchen and the dishwasher wasn’t great (I think it needed salt but the local shops didn’t sell it) We ventured to Seascale, St Bees, Whitehaven and there are small local shops within a short drive. We didn’t need to use the log burner as the heating was superb and kept the cottage lovely and warm. Thanks for a great relaxing week, I wouldn’t hesitate to book again, excellent value for money.

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. I have moved the kitchen around to make more work space as you have suggested. Thank you for choosing Sawmill cottage. Look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Had a lovely 4 night break over New Year. The cottage is in a great location away from busy main road but still a very short walk to the welcoming local dog friendly pub The Stanley Arms. There are nice walks on the doorstep but it’s a short drive to many other great places. We visited Wasdale Head; Seascale beach, St Bees cliff walk; Egremont Castle and Lake Ennerdale. Dogs went with us everywhere. The cottage is exceptionally dog friendly with secure garden and dog fleeces and beds provided for indoors. It was very warm and cosy, we didn’t feel the need to light the wood burner. Also plenty of hot water. WiFi is good. Has a small telly. It wasn’t five star luxury but it was great not to be stressing about dogs coming and going from the garden. Dishes in the kitchen needed cleaning before use and kitchen taps were very loose, we were nervous of a water accident. The coffee machine is a Dolce Gusto which takes pods. If you like real coffee I would take a cafetière. Good to have the second fridge freezer downstairs. Fresh towels provided in the bathroom upstairs, shower great for me but a bit low for the taller guest. Bathroom sink was slow to drain possibly blocked. Beds very comfy with fresh white linens and lots of pillows. All in all great value for money

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments Hazel. Five star luxury comes at five star prices. As you say Sawmill Cottage offers warm cosy homely comfort whilst welcoming up to four pets free of charge. All in a picturesque location with lovely walks right from the back door. The heart of the Lake District and other attractions within a fifteen minute drive. All at three star prices which as you say represents great value for money. Delighted you enjoyed your stay. Hope to welcome you back soon.

Would highly recommend and will definitely be looking to rebook in the future. The beach is only a 15 minute drive arrive and the closest lake Wastwater was about 20-25 minute away. This is the first dog friendly cottage/house we stayed in (stayed in numerous) where we actually had our dogs provided for. They was separate towels, throws, beds, treats and bowls, which we thought was a lovely/great gesture. The garden is nice and enclosed, important for us as we had dogs, and had a lovely view of the open space behind the cottage. Only a sort drive to local town centre

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are delighted to welcome furry guests to the cottage as well as their owners of course. There are scenic walks along the river right from the back door of the cottage with lovely beaches at seascale and st bees just minutes away. Local dog friendly pub and villages and shops nearby and easy access to Lakeland attractions. Delighted you enjoyed your stay. We would love to welcome you back. Thank you for your comments

The cottage is warm and comfortable, has a very comfortable bed and use of a washing machine. The cottage is set up for dogs to stay which is nice. If you want to take your dog on holiday with you, you do not want to be worried about it making a mess, being hairy, or having muddy paws. The cottage reflects that.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We have tried to make the cottage homely and welcoming for all of our guests- both dogs and their owners. Thank you for choosing Sawmill Cottage

Very pet friendly cottage in a great location. Walks from the front door and a great local pub a few minutes walk away. Cottage felt very spacious downstairs and living room was very comfortable with great views. Cottage itself could do with some updating, taps etc very loose and towels and hoover could do with replacing. Cottage would benefit from one king size bed and twin beds in the other room. Shower over the bath is fixed so it's very difficult for anyone over 5ft to use it. Lovely neighbours although one likes to mow his lawn at 7am on Sunday! 😂

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Towels and Hoover replaced. Cottage as you say is comfortable, very pet friendly and in a great location. Thank you for choosing Sawmill Cottage.
