Enjoy cliff-top walks, rugged caves and sea angling from Sandy Brae Cottage, a traditional detached fisherman’s cottage.

This traditional, detached fisherman’s cottage is located within 100 yards of the harbour of Findochty on the Moray Firth. Nearby is a small pier, where sea angling is possible throughout the year. There is depending on the tide, a small beach at the harbour, and a larger sandy beach within a few minutes’ walk. There are wonderful cliff-top walks, studded with caves, and a challenging 9-hole golf course to the west of the village. I thought I had booked a cottage on the harbour, but could only see this when outside. The Admirals public house was very good, but I felt that the menu needed a few other items on it. Potatoes and pasta are not very good if you are suffering with diabetes. Salads only appeared on the side of the plate and not offered as a main meal. The cottage was very nice, but I felt that an Xpelar was needed in both bathrooms as there was no way the window would open in the downstairs bathroom, and even more important that air should be in the upstairs bathroom as it housed the boiler. The fire extinguisher in the kitchen was 2 years out of date and also was situated near the hob, and this was a hazard in itself as it was an aerosol. The boilers inspection was out of date according to the book in the cottage. There also is a problem with damp especially in the porch which was crumbling whilst I was there. I personally feel that Health and Safety would have a field day if an inspection was to take place. The dishwasher needs securing as it wobbles when trying to fill it.

Lovely area. Cottage could be good; heating and showers excellent. Kitchen well equipped but hob (Lamona) absolute rubbish and should be replaced. Rusty oven trays and badly scratched non-stick pans simply should not be there.

Cottage was comfortable but furniture in living room could be better positioned an more comfortable couches Unfortunately the hob was not working but the oven was fine and the dishwasher and washing machine with dryer were suburb. Plus cleaning materials and soap etc were all provided which was a great bonus. Plus ironing board and iron and all equipment that you could could possibly need. Its a shame the external building is not being looked after better as there are cracks in the walls front and back great or adults

Had a lovely week.cottage in good position next to the harbour.handy to have 2 bathrooms.kitchen diner really nice. My only grumble was trying to use the hob (even with the instructions to hand). Waiting for it to heat up enough to cook was so frustrating.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage. An ideal base for the many golf courses in the area, also a very interesting and pretty coastline.
