Having read the review before booking we were slightly disappointed when we arrived at Sandy Beach. We do not usually give reviews, but we found the current ones did not give an accurate picture of the property in our opinion. As a young family with an 8 year old and an 11 month year old we found the property very dated and in need of a refresh. In particular the bathroom. The overbath shower was not very powerful, so we stuck with baths for the duration of our stay. The property is pet friendly and there was an odour of dogs as soon as you enter, as we don't have dogs ourselves I think this made it more noticable. Crawling on the floor my son would get very dirty on his hands and knees and he found a cocktail sausage under the sofa! Despite all this, we did enjoy our holiday, v near to the beach and we liked visiting the nearby Maplethorpe. We used the hot tub everyday and this was well kept and a nice addition.

We really enjoyed our Oct/Nov. holiday at Sandy Beach,it was very cosy to come back to after a long stroll on the beach which is only about a 5min.walk away, we would go to Chapel village for a coffee and back. The house was tastefully furnished the beds very comfy and everything you you could need, a very happy time.

Super location on the edge of Chapel St Leonard’s. Five minutes walk to the large open beach. Great for the dog. Plenty of places to visit within a 20 min drive. Fully recommend and we will return. Late October stay and what a delight to be in the hot tub.

Fantastic holiday home with plenty to keep everybody entertained & happy. Very comfortable in a beautifully quiet location, but everything you could need is close by. Great walks & places to eat nearby. Perfect for elderly parents & the dog loved it too!

The house was lovely but unfortunately it did smell of dogs and they were a lot of pet hairs in the double bedroom. We have stayed in many holiday cottages with hot tubs but never one where it is not checked daily by the middle of the week we couldn't use it as the water levels were so low the jets didn't work. The nearby beach is the only reason I think this house can command the price it asks. Such a shame as I think with a little more attention to detail it could ask for more.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your concerns, we take them very seriously if we or Cottages com are contacted. We personally speak to all incoming guests before arrival and give them details about the property and keys also information about the local area I also give them my mobile phone No. and to contact me with any issues concerns or information they require, unfortunately you did not contact me or Cottages.Com at any time during your stay. We feel the strategy in place for cleaning and inspection is adequate due to the 9.5 out of 10 average of the 16 reviews before your stay Cottages.com rules on Dogs state pets are not allowed in bedrooms or on furnishings. We will investigate and act on all genuine concerns about cleanliness or equipment that does not operate correctly. The Hot Tub Maintenance , Clean, and Chemical additives are carried out on changeover Day this includes topping up the floating Bromine Dispenser, this is carried out to Cottages.Com Guidelines on Hot tubs . Guest staying in the property for 2 weeks will have the Hot tub maintained for their 2nd week. Unfortunately equipment does sometimes become faulty and during your stay a Seal started leaking between the Heater and Pump causing the water level to fall, this was only found after you had left the property the repair took all of 15 minutes ,a phone call to myself or Cottages .Com would have had the Hot Tub repaired topped up and running in no time at all.
