Description

Set on a working farm, this holiday cottage is an ideal base for golfers, with four courses within a 30-minute drive.

Set in 70 acres of beautiful pastures leading to the Coombe Valley. As the name suggests, Sanctuary Farm Cottages provides a wonderful sanctuary in which to relax and unwind. Converted to a good standard, these four pretty barn conversions, built using authentic materials, retain plenty of character with vaulted ceilings, exposed stonework and oak wooden floors. The holiday cottages are set on a mixed working farm and have been individually decorated to provide an ambience of peace and tranquillity. Woods Close (ref 17381) is perfect for families and has its own private balcony and sitting-out area boasting wonderful views. Apple Tree Cottage (ref 18512), Orchard Close (ref 17380) and April’s Cottage (ref UKC3384) are all ideal for couples. Each one different, they offer couples a relaxing retreat from the hustle and bustle of life. Guests are free to wander the woodlands and natural grounds or take the 1½ mile walk through woodland which leads to the sandy dog friendly beach at Duckpool.
There is a profusion of cliff, beach and moorland paths for walkers to enjoy - why not start with the coastline’s Heritage Trail. The cottages are ideally placed close to the spectacular National Trust Coastal Path, which boasts access to superb bays, beaches and coves. Tamar Lakes is just 6 miles where you will find coarse and trout fishing, sailing, wind surfing and canoeing. The pretty village of Kilkhampton with its beautiful church is just 1½ miles and offers two pubs, a supermarket, butchers and a good range of village shops and take-away food outlets. The pretty fishing villages of Port Isaac, Tintagel and Clovelly are close by and there are many National Trust properties in this stunning location. For family fun don’t miss the The Big Sheep and Milky Way Adventure Parks or for an adrenalin fuelled day for young and old why not try The Ultimate Adventure Centre or the North Devon Wake Park for water sports fun. Bude, 5 miles, has shops, pubs, restaurants and facilities for golf, swimming and ten pin bowling. There is horse riding in the village and there are four golf courses within a 30-minute drive, including the Ivyleaf Golf Course which is just 3 miles away. Beach 1½ miles. Shop and pub 1½ miles.

The cottage was at Sanctuary Farm and it was exactly that. The views all around were stunning and it was easy to get around from there. Would not hesitate to return.

Lovely cottage really cosy nice walks to be had nearby, my only criticism would be that the bed was really squeaky whenever you moved. But we had a lovely time. Thanks.

on directions it says sanctuary farm situated at the end of a long drive which is maybe misleading as it is at the end of a long farm track.

Lovely cottage and really lovely people (especially the cream tea on arrival!). Great location for walkers as shops etc are more of a drive away (and on that note, don't go in a car with low ground clearance the driveway is a bit undulating). For us it was great being on a working farm but just be aware that you will have the odd tractor going past the window. Highly recommended for outdoorsy people!

Lovely little cottage on a pretty working farm, very friendly family and a home-made cream tea ready for us on arrival. I had read that it was down a dirt track but didn't realise quite how remote it was. It was a mud track for more than 1/2 a mile which is difficult in a low slung car as the raised part in the middle of the track was scraping on the bottom so we had to drive at 7 miles an hour at an angle driving right up against the hedgerows to raise the chassis up. For me, the cottage was lovely and I would stay again but for the location - it was very quiet but 1 1/2 miles to the nearest shop, pub and fish and chip shops. We were told it was 1 1/2 miles from the beach but after an hour of walking in the right direction we saw no sea and gave up as it was also very boggy. The nearby beach of Sandymouth Bay is well worth a visit - especially during rough weather, it is very rugged and the waves crashing on the rocks were amazing. Bude beach is also very pretty with its varied colour cliffs and rock pools.
