A good location and cottage but unfortunately there was no loo roll or kitchen soap

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; I take on-board your comments and will from now on supply hand wash in the kitchen like there is in the bathroom. With the toilet roll that was my mistake as there was toilet roll in the bedroom wardrobe but on the occasion of your visit I forgot to transfer it from there to the bathroom, my oversight and I apologise.

My husband and I enjoyed a very peaceful new year break with our dog Scarlett. The cottage was very Quaint and the log burner made if very cosy. We ate at the London Inn just round the corner, which was welcoming and the food was excellent. Did various walks, Drakes trail being one, which runs through the village at the top of the hill. Highly recommend the cottage, but would not be great for small children.

We had a wonderful stay at Salmon Leap. Even if it rains there's The London Inn ! And a great chippie. Lovely village and very friendly. Hope to be back soon.

We had a lovely time in the cottage, and Dartmoor, even though it rained most of the week. The cottage is cosy and relaxed, and came we everything we needed for the week. We really enjoyed it, and if we are visiting the area again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thank you

Charming cottage. Wifi was fantastic was able to use our tech gadgets. The pub up the road where we ate were warm and friendly, the food was the best pub food I have had. As a whole it was a lovely few days rest.

Unfortunately we had a nightmare week at Salmon Leap, this place is not a place suitable for kids at all.

    Response from:

Response behalf of the owner: I appreciate all customer feedback. I know the weather during your stay was not the best (lots of rain) and that your son was ill, I am afraid that there isn't anything that I could do about that. Salmon Leap is exactly as is described on the web site, sitting within the Dartmoor national park and is always well appointed and clean. I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay, maybe a character cottage situated in a beautiful setting is not the type of holiday you were looking for. You have awarded a 3 out of 10 but have not said what was actually wrong with the cottage, I am hoping maybe the bad weather and illness of your son are the reasons for your comments and not anything at fault with the cottage. There is free WIFI in the cottage as well as a DVD player and board games provided, literally across the lane from the cottage is the village park which is very good, there is also a swimming pool with slides and a current machine at the nearest town of Tavistock. The city of Plymouth is close by with the usual facilities so again I am unsure what more you would require to make it suitable for your child.

This was our second summer at Salmon Leap cottage, and we enjoyed our stay here as much as last year. What made us come back? - The cottage itself, which is both traditional and beautifully refurbished downstairs and up. The ground floor is open plan but cosy with well-fitted kitchen. Both bedrooms are very comfortable, with good airing. The cottage may be centuries old, but has excellent natural lighting, and at night is very quiet, with only the gush of the Weir to wake up to. While parking is on-street we had no problems parking right outside the cottage most evenings, although the village can get quite busy on summer weekends. The owners made us feel very welcome. - Perhaps unusually for a holiday cottage Salmon Leap is at the heart of a village. Horrabridge is both pretty and interesting (and developing!), with well-stocked local shop, bakery, and a large inn with garden terrace. If you fancy a lazy day ‘at home’, there is an excellent children’s park and picnic area by the Weir. - Horrabridge is a ten-minute drive from Tavistock and local supermarkets. - Access to the moor itself couldn’t be better. - Plymouth is a fifteen minute drive and the same over the Tamar into Cornwall. Salmon Leap is ideal for a couple or a couple with one child, and makes an excellent base for exploring Dartmoor and the West Country.
