Description

This majestic spacious house is ideal for two families, with two floors each with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, toilet, kitchen and living area. The large garden has lots of lovely spots for relaxation in the sun or the shade. The property is situated in a village with bakers, restaurant and grocery shop. Riberac is 8km and offers more extensive shopping with a supermarket, bank, restaurants and bars with musical entertainment in summer and its weekly market. Do not hesitate to cross the border into the Charente and visit Aubeterre-sur-Dronne which is classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France and has a Monolithic church well worth a visit as well as a river beach with canoeing. If you like blues music check out Auberge de Bon Vivre in Douchapt for outdoor concerts in the summer months. Wonderful pool facility but brickwork unsafe and not secure fencing. Dog escaped despite being supervised! Lovely garden. No towels and suggest ask for GPS to locate on SAT NAV as instructions wrong and added half hour to journey. No towels as promised and when did arrive were old, usually too small and some stained with bleach. Lots of flannel size but not towels for 4 adults let alone 8. Washing machine temperamental and no internet. High Chair filthy and place needed full maintenance review. Lots of cuddly toys often dirty. Door handles wobbly and little resourcing... plates often dirty even when put through dishwasher. No top sheets and our dogs contracted fleas for first time ever! BUT position and building had charm and holiday around pool and visiting Bergerac and Perigeaux greatly enjoyed. Secure terrace needed repair but sat 8 comfortably. Loved area and fireworks as well as village celebrations. No grocers as advertised and boulangerie not open daily. We have used this company for 3 years and others for over 20 and a shame not to have a welcome bottle of wine on arrival nor any check on our wellbeing other than text to check when leaving on final night. We had a wonderful holiday and yet found for money maintenance and level of service disappointing.

Huge house. Full of all the equipment you could possibly need for self catering. Beds not very comfortable and like everything else there was very old. Could not connect to WiFi at all. We were told towels were provided but only one bath towel per double room was not enough I would of brought my own if I’d known. No air con. Outside area is lovely and peaceful. The block paving around the pool is all over the place so is a trip hazard. There are lots of cobwebs and dust everywhere and hundreds of ants downstairs. Every night a light bulb went, handles fell off both bathrooms and barrel out of front door came out. The house is very old as is it’s contents but we overlooked all this and had a wonderful week of not doing anything other than lazing by the pool and having family dinners. There is only one restaurant within walking distance but we didn’t try it.

This is a traditional old French house in a village with a bar/restaurant and bakery. The back of the house is lovely, with a patio large enough for 8 of us to eat out comfortably, a lovely pool area and plenty of parking and garden space. The access is from a small lane. The front of the house is a bit noisy but this only affected the kitchen and living space and mainly in rush-hour time, when lorries came thundering past. There is no access from the front anyway and the bedrooms are at the back. The back of the house, patio and garden, where we spent most of the time, is lovely and quiet. There is a lake beach about 15-20 minutes drive away (The Grand Etang La Jemaye) which is nice for picnics and walking. Riberac is about 15 minutes drive and there is a supermarket on the nearest side of Riberac, which is convenient. We enjoyed our week's stay very much. The layout of the house suited us - it is laid out as two 2-bedroom flats, each with kitchen and living area, one on first and one on second floor, but we used it as a whole house. Could suit two families with older children who want to have shared and separate times but note that there are lots of stone steps inside and outside so it would be difficult for anybody who wants to avoid steps. The kitchens are on the first and second floor, not the ground floor. We enjoyed the cool of the house and the pool table on the ground floor when it was very hot.
