We took my mother in law here for a 3 day stay and had a wonderful holiday. Sailor's Cottage is beautifully located in Cramond Village, above the bistro/gallery. Our February trip was blessed with good weather which meant we could enjoy all the great walks from the cottage (across to the island, along the shore and up the River Almond. Cramond is well served by a regular bus into the heart of the city from a bus stop a bit up the hill from the cottage. The cottage is very well equipped with a great cooker, dishwasher and full range of utensils and crockery which suited us well as we were cooking at home 2 nights out of 3. Beds are very comfy and the cottage is really cosy. Super wifi connection, particularly important in winter. There are also books and games in the cottage. Visitors should be aware (we knew this in advance) that Cramond itself does ot have any shops, at the moment the local pub is closed and the shore café was not open in February.

Lovely location close to Edinburgh. Super views from cottage. Nice Bistro underneath cottage and beach nearby. Good for dogs. A little more child/infant friendly needed perhaps, eg the beaded blind pulls replaced, a stair gate and we found the baby travel cot under the bed at end of stay. No problem though we had brought our own. The local pub was also closed. Overall, a lovely stay and would return.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay in the property and look forward to hopefully returning sometime again in the future. Great places to walk the dog and lovely little cafe's dotted about. Thank you very much for accommodating us.

A return visit as we knew it would suit our needs to be near the city but also at the shore. Cosy and comfortable as expected and we had a good stay with mostly good weather and some lovely sunrises and sunsets. On a positive we found the excellant local playarea ,up the hill behind the church & hall in a former walled garden. Great for playing football with equipment for all ages and watching the planes flying over to airport. The walk up to Cramond bridge and the playarea there was lovely through the autumnal woods. Also got across to Cramond island this time with great views up and down the Forth. A few maintenance and equipment issues such as a window with broken catch that had to be wedged shut to keep personal conversations from cafe below being heard and a cold draught out, loose wall plug sockets, several lightbulbs out, still no glass dishes for cooking in oven or microwave and there was no folder with info on area or appliance instructions. Sofas need a good clean beneath cushions as we found out when looking for a toy. This time we were aware of more night time visits of cars with engines running and early morning dog walkers abusing the no parking on harbour, perhaps the gates need to be shut at corner overnight. The local pub which had a reputation for poor service & food is now shut so we weren't missing out as the bistro below and nearby Cramond Falls cafe are good during day. All in all a good base for exploring with just a few issues that need addressed.

It is a lovely cottage with stunning views and would have been better if our shower was working. Our landlady was excellent at responding immediately and arranging for plumber and electrician to attend on Monday but unfortunately we heard no more and had to share our friends’ shower all week which was rather inconvenient. We only ever book properties with 2 bathrooms to have this facility and this us the reason we have not given a higher score.

The cottage was beautiful and very well presented. We did find the mattresses to be uncomfortable, too hard but that is down to individual preference. The location was really good and although the local amenities in Cramond are non existent apart from a bistro open during the day and a pub that didn’t do food while we were there, it didn’t bother us as Edinburgh was so close. The bus service in and out of Edinburgh was excellent, every 15 minutes and runs till late on a night. The views from the cottage were fantastic.

Larger than we expected with plenty of room to relax. The view from the dining area was delightful and we spent more time there than in the lounge. Kitchen area was very well equipped. I wondered if the bistro below would be noisy but the customers provided a pleasant background of restrained chatter. When it closed, before 5 pm, the area became extremely peaceful. A short walk to a bus stop enabled us to leave our cars at home most of the time, and avoid the busy roads in the city centre. Easy, frequent and cheap bus ride to all the major tourist sites. Supermarket and takeaways just 5 minutes away. No problem parking on the road outside the flat. We really enjoyed our stay and would have liked another day or two, which is unusual for us. Thoroughly recommended.

A lovely cottage in a lovely village location with great views over the Firth of Forth. A good location to a see the sights with easy access to Edinburgh for the Royal Yacht or Edinburgh Castle, the bus service is excellent. For further a field there is the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies and South Queensferry is a lovely area to visit to with excellent views of all 3 bridges.

I love it here! Booked it twice now and will book it every opportunity I get!! Beautiful location and beautiful cottage. I just feel like I'm home. I can not recommend this highly enough. Easy to reach the city centre and far enough out to still have a peaceful retreat.
