This was our second stay here we enjoyed it so much last year. The cottage is right in Cramond Village overlooking the River Almond. Parking is possible outside the cottage. Downstairs has two bedrooms, a shower room /toilet and a large and well equipped kitchen dining room. Upstairs is another bedroom with ensuite shower room and a large lounge. Everything is provided for guest's comfort, including some basic groceries and a variety of books, games and magazines. The cottage is lovely and warm with super views. Guests do need to know (as we did) that there is not a shop in the village so you should bring what you need for the first night/morning with you. The bistro under the cottage is only open during the day and the pub has restricted kitchen hours which should be checked in advance if you intend to eat there. However Edinburgh is on the doorstep where there is no shortage of eating and shopping possibilities. The bus stop for Edinburgh is a 5 to 10 minute walk up the hill, depending on walking speed. From the cottage there are fantastic walks along the shore, up the river and across to Cramond Island.

Lovely to be able to retreat to peace after a days sightseeing. Great for dog walks. Cafe downstairs looked very busy, always a good sign but didn’t visit. Frequent bus to town centre a short walk away. Some aircraft noise during the day as well as early am and evening but not unbearable.

We had a very lovely time in the sailor’s cottage. It was clean, very comfortable and I would certainly recommend it highly. There is a small bistro on your doorstep which serves the best soup and panini’s.A superb pub in the village,a museum and an art gallery.
