Description

With an open fire and fishing on the River Spey, this is the ideal property for a family break all year round.

This lovely detached holiday lodge is situated in a very peaceful position with views over fields leading to the River Spey. Attractively furnished and very comfortable, it welcomes visitors with its cosy open fire, supplemented by central heating. It is ideal for families or couples and makes a wonderful base for rambling or fishing on the River Spey, where trout and salmon fishing (permit only) can be arranged. The Speyside Way runs alongside, an excellent long distance walk running from the Moray coast to Aviemore. There is a 9-hole 18-tee golf course, 1 mile away at Ballindalloch, with other superb courses less than an hour away. Within easy reach are the ski slopes of the Lecht and Cairngorm, or by contrast enjoy the wonderful sandy beaches of the Moray Firth around Lossiemouth and Nairn where the famous Moray Firth dolphins can be regularly spotted. Visit the fairytale Ballindalloch Castle, 2 miles, or the ruins of Drumin Castle and its walled garden. The malt whisky trail starts close by, with Cragganmore Distillery (tours April to October) less than one mile from the house. Supermarket and deli at Aberlour, 9 miles, large supermarkets in Elgin, 25 miles, and Inverness, 47 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

This is a very cosy chalet and well equipped. Washing machine, dishwasher, sauna utensils, towels, cleaning materials and basics such coffee, salt, pepper etc., all available. The log fire was very welcome and everything worked. It is very quiet in February but relaxing and peaceful and snowboarding and skiing only half an hour away. The Speyside way is only 20 yards away and very relaxing watching the Spey flow by. The welcoming bottle of wine was very welcome too!

Nice cottage... Only real issue was the pub within a mile, which is only actually open seasonally... So closed in Oct during our holiday - this should be stated on the booking web site.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are so sorry our customers were disappointed that the Inn was closed. We have made enquiries, and found that unknown to us the 5 year tenancy agreement had come to an end and the tenants did not wish to renew the lease. This came as a surprise to everyone. Well it has been quickly taken on and shall be opening again in the next week or two. Again we can only apologise for the disappointment, but these matters are beyond our control.
