Description

This holiday property has a lovely patio overlooking the duck pond - a quiet, rural retreat.

Saffies is a listed, single-storey, renovated stable block on a 300-acre working arable and sheep farm in the pretty village of Stogumber. Set in the folding hills between the beautiful Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park, there are breathtaking views of the very special west Somerset countryside on your doorstep. There is a lovely patio garden to the front overlooking a fenced duck pond, and the added benefit of an electric woodburner, making it a warm and cosy holiday home all year round.

There is a good pub/restaurant under 2 miles away with a further 8 within a 5 mile radius. The famous West Somerset Railway stops at Stogumber Station where you can ride the steam train along the scenic north coast to Minehead.
Within the area there is an abundance of attractions, these include Cleve Abbey, Dunster Castle and fossil hunting on Kilve Beach. Surfing is available on the north Devon coast, which is 1¼ hour’s drive across Exmoor National Park. For the avid walkers, there are a number of routes along the Quantock Hills and in Exmoor National Park. In addition, you can enjoy both walks and picnics around Tarr Steps, Lanacre Bridge, Bossington, Porlock Weir and Watchet Harbour. Beach 6 miles. Shop/post office and pub 250 yards, restaurant 2 miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (5ft) with en-suite shower room and toilet, 1 twin (four poster). Bathroom with shower over bath and toilet.

Really enjoyed our stay at Saffies. Clean, airy, modern and homely. Had everything we needed and such a bonus to have a pretty garden to enjoy. Waking up to the gentle singing of birds and the trickling stream nearby was so idyllic. The village was quaint and very friendly. We would love to return. Thoroughly recommend.

Clean, comfortable cottage: nice location: post office and pub in the village. Not exactly in a quiet place with a large rookery in nearby trees but lots of interesting birds and we saw a badger. Recommend the West Somerset steam railway.

This is our 3rd visit to Saffies. Love the cottage. Could do with a little TLC now. Showing some signs of wear and tear. Bathroom shelf broken but not replaced. Still as comfortable as ever, given 8 as could do with some more kitchen equipment, eg oven pans. Appreciate that many visitors may eat out more than we do, but snowed in this year with local pubs not open for food, so had to cook. Would still book again....
