We enjoyed a fabulous second visit to Rustic Cottage. It's in a perfect location and the garden is a little suntrap in addition to being a safe area for the dogs (second dog with owner's permission). The cottage, although small, is spotlessly clean and very comfortable with good facilities; the only recommendation would be for an extra pan in the kitchen!!

It was our second time at Rustic cottage and it delivered yet again. It’s a perfect spot, quiet yet right at the heart of Bowness-on-Windermere, no need to use the car once we had arrived, fantastic. Would recommend this to anyone.

A very over-priced accommodation. A comfy bed but equipment in kitchen left a lot to be desired - ONE lidded saucepan, two lids, no saucepans, tatty storage cupboard with catch held by pice of cardboard. NO logs in cottage and outside back and front door no evidence of any brushing having taken place. Very small TV for this cost and curtains in sitting room didn't close - mechanism faulty! Bottle rack in kitchen broken - only 2 burners for 4 people!! No oven light. No spare toilet rolls in bathroom. This accommodation requires a lot of TLC - will never return or recommend to others.

The cottage was not very clean, the kitchen was very small and would be hard to cook in due to the size of it. The garden was lovely but is right next to a public path. The bathroom was very dated and the toilet was leaking. Would I return to Rustic Cottage..no. I think the property was overpriced for what it was and I also think paying an extra £25 to take your dog is unreasonable when clearly the £25 is not used to clean the property when you vacate! Sorry but I am just being as honest as possible.

This is a really super cottage in a fantastic location, in need of a thorough clean. It's very competitive cost however reflected what you got, to be fair. The kitchen is really tiny without much worktop or a draining board. Its a giggle for four people, but better for two. The owner clearly loves this house, with beautiful lights in the lounge and large beds, with a super garden for dogs and children - we loved it. But unfortunately it is not clean. Once it has had a thorough clean of the lounge, kitchen and bathroom, with new ovenware and an extra oven shelf, I would be back in a shot

We were grateful to be allowed to stay with our two dogs (payed £25 per dog) but the first thing we noticed on entering property after an 10hr drive wasn't the lovely bottle of bubbly, dog treats and flowers, instead it was a note on the wall in front of us as we walked in informing us of the pet rules and that although there was no extra cleaning charge for pets, if we left it messy more payment would be required (wondering what the £50 we paid extra was actually for?) bit of a sour start especially after having a long hard drive. The heating was great which was just as well because the free wood for first fire were two logs that were too big to fit into fireplace or start a fire from. No kindling provided. Carbon monoxide alarms should be in both kitchen and lounge (gas stove and woodburner are carbon monoxide hazards) only alarm I found for carbon monoxide was in kitchen and didn't work. The glasses situation in the kitchen was a bit dire one pint glass 2 different sized champagne flutes and one wine glass. For a cottage that is ment to be capable of hosting 4 adults it didn't really work. The two small sofas would have been a squash if 4 people in property, why not get rid of the unusable window table whose chairs you can't easily get out and sit at and put a deep cushion window bench in giving at least another seating area. I appreciate we were there at a very cold time, but draught under the two house doors were impressive simple draught excludes would cut heating bills. Sorry to start with the negatives but on a positive, the upstairs main bedroom was lovely, big bed, very soft and luxurious, lovely linen and duvet. Top marks. Great to see that the shower had been upgraded, that was brilliant too. The second bedroom really needs a rethink. I think two singles would be better idea and allow people space to walk in the room. Our guests who were stopping didn't in the end due to the weather fun, but as a larger couple I think they would of had problems actually getting into bed. I'm not sure if that room even can fit a wardrobe I can remember seeing one? I m reading back through this and worry that it's too negative maybe we had too high expectations after other places that we have stopped. But issues are only minor tweek that wouldn't cost much and would make it exceptional.

Throughly enjoyed the weekend. Could do with a few more glasses, non stick milk pan, pan with lid, cooking spatula and prongs
