Stable Cottage (ref 31309) is a delightful, detached, character barn conversion and has been renovated in 2018. This single-storey bolt-hole offers comfortable and cosy accommodation for couples, and is tucked away enough for it to offer a peaceful retreat. Inside there are beams, some low and views over the lake from the living room window. It is adjacent to stunning manicured grounds with the tranquil lake, pergoda and seating areas. Together with two other cottages, it is peacefully located within the grounds of a stud farm where the main barn dates back to 1578, and is one of the oldest barns in Sussex. They are surrounded by 130 acres of pasture and ancient oak forests on the border of Surrey and Sussex with public footpaths from the door.
Historic Petworth House and Gardens is about a 10-minute drive, with its plentiful antique shops, beautiful stately home and Capability gardens, and where live music concerts and outdoor theatre can be enjoyed during the summer months. The small charming town of Midhurst, famous for polo at Cowdray Park is also a short drive, as are Billingshurst, Haslemere, Gatwick and Guildford. Goodwood, with its motor and horse racing, Fontwell races, Leonardslee, West Dean Gardens, Parham House, Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, and the South Downs are all within easy driving distance. Visit Chichester, with its ornate cathedral, tea rooms, extensive shopping, festival theatre and harbour tours, or alternatively Arundel, which also has a cathedral, famous castle and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. The Witterings and other beaches are half an hour’s drive, and numerous golf courses, horse riding and fishing are also close by. London and Brighton can also be easily reached for great days out. Beach 25 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile. Property refs 30636, 31309 and UKC1266 can be booked together to accommodate up to 16 guests.

A lovely stable conversion with the original doors still in place on the outside but well concealed on the inside. Well decorated, clean and tidy. Plenty of electricity sockets to keep all your gadgets charged and all the appliances a modern couple could need to keep fed and watered. We loved it - our only challenge was the lowness of the roof beams which were a 'headache' for anyone over about five feet ten inches tall. One of us has the scars to bear witness!!!

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review it was lovely to meet you and glad you enjoyed your stay. Shame we can’t higher the beams to prevent sore heads.
