Fully restored 17th century cottage located in a pretty village – ideal for couples or families

Located on a peaceful lane in the delightful and historic village of Snape, Roseview is a beautifully restored 17th century stone cottage, providing excellent accommodation for couples and families alike in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
Sympathetically transformed with oak floors, wooden beams and a wood burning stove, Roseview is furnished in a very comfortable contemporary style. With two bedrooms upstairs, both with their own ensuite bathroom facility, the cottage can accommodate up to four guests, with a shower room on the ground floor a handy additional facility. The lounge with wood burner offers a cosy place to unwind at the end of the day, or you might prefer to relax in the reading area in the separate dining room, and the kitchen is well equipped with everything required for self catering.  A beautiful lawned garden to the rear is enclosed and secluded, perfect for a summer’s afternoon. A shed is also available for those wishing to take advantage of the quiet roads and bring their own bicycles.
Snape village has a pub serving food, an excellent farm shop, a pretty beck running through it, and even a  castle, dating from 1426 once the home of Henry VIII’s last, and surviving, wife Katherine Parr.  For those with an interest in nature, Thorpe Perrow Arboretum is a short distance away. The Georgian market town of Bedale is around 3 miles away and offers a wide selection of shops, tea rooms and pubs along with the town of Masham, which has two breweries to explore and holds various seasonal events. Excellent footpath walks and cycle routes can be discovered in the area, with the heart of the National Park easily accessed.  A delightful cottage in an area with something for everyone.

There was a nice surprise when we arrived as the whole thing was better than we expected. The drive is only shared with the owners and parking down the drive is not shared as the owners park through the gate at the far end, so parking at the side of the cottage for unloading purposes is not a problem. The armchairs shown in the photos do not exist as they have been replaced with two new, very comfortable and fabric fabric covered The peacefulness of this location is unbelievable and the residents we met were all very friendly. The local pub is very tired looking and I was not impressed with Sunday lunch which was our first and only meal, we were the only people in the dining room at 1.30pm !! However we did go a few times for drinks and there are plenty of other good eating houses within 5 miles. My only real negative is a general complaint about the lateness of entry to properties, 3 p.m. is in our opinion, too late in the day. You are told to leave by 10.a.m., which is fine (we left at 9a.m.) so there is a minimum of 5hrs. to prepare the property ? Some even quote 4 p.m. !!!

A brilliant holiday cottage located in a lovely village. Really high standard throughout and incredibly comfy beds! Large enclosed garden which our dog loved.wifi was not great but it didn’t effect our stay. friendly local pub only two mins walk away and a great deli shop open throughout the week meant the village had all we immediately needed but Bedale so close was great for all our needs.loads to explore in the area. We will definately stay again. Highly recommended

Lovely clean, well kitted out cottage with really comfortable king sized beds. Very quiet location, couple of minutes walk to tarmaced country lane. Owner who lives at back of cottage very friendly and helpful. We visited Thorpe Perrow Arboretum, Harewood House, Richmond and Bedale. Would definitely recommend it and would go there again. Only gave 8 out of 10 for amenities, not much in the way of shops, only a pub, but that is expected in a small quiet village.

Lovely cottage in a wonderful little village. It is walking distance to a very friendly local pub, which does tasty meals, and also to some lovely walks. Garden is lovely, enjoyed watching the birds at the feeder. It is in a good location to drive to places such as Thirsk, York, into the Dales and to the many charming little villages around. Cottage is well equipped and comfortable, the only thing that lets it down slightly is that the furniture in the lounge and dining room feels quite old and dated. Kitchen is well equipped and everything very clean. Would definitely stay here again as really loved the village and location. Recommend visiting Thirsk for the James Herriot museum and driving through the Dales to the White Scar Cave - quite a drive but scenery lovely and caves amazing!

Response on behalf of the owner: Delighted you enjoyed your stay so much, it’s a great place and we’re very proud of our cottage. We constantly upgrade Roseview and this summer have added a new fridge, new washing machine, new tumble drier and new chairs, so hope you’ll be even more comfortable for your next visit!
