Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Description

Enjoy use of you very own private hot tub, watch the stars with a glass of wine and take in the views of the sublime Welsh countryside.

Lying peacefully on the banks of the glistening River Teifi within extensive grounds and on a 91-acre working farm, these traditional, Welsh barn conversions (refs JUK, JUL, OAM and OFA) have been converted to a very good standard and offer a perfect base for a family or couples looking to explore the dramatic coastline and rugged mountains of west Wales. Conveniently located just 2 miles away from the charming, market town of Cardigan, Rosehill Farm is situated well off the beaten track and is surrounded by rolling terrain where horses, goats and lambs call home. On the approach to the farm, guests will be greeted with spectacular views of the River Teifi, which is famously renowned for its freshwater salmon and trout fishing, and superb water based activities including kayaking and sailing. Each cottage has been sympathetically restored to uncover much of its original charm and character, including exposed beams and stone walls. Outside, guests can relax on their own private patio area, perfect for unwinding after a busy day’s adventure whilst watching the red kites and peregrine falcons soar over the magnificent scenery.
Close to the iconic Pembrokeshire National Park, guests can ramble the majestic Preseli Hills and discover picturesque walks and ancient monuments, including the Bronze Age burial chamber of Pentre Ifan Dolmen, which stands beautifully in rugged terrain. The nearby market towns of Cardigan, Newcastle Emlyn and Carmarthen are all rich with Welsh culture and offer a selection of traditional pubs, boutique and antique gift shops, along with some restaurants waiting to be explored. The magnificent coastline is just a short drive away and is home to golden beaches, horseshoe coves and the pretty coastal towns of Newport, New Quay and Aberaeron, which are set in tranquil fishing harbours where bottlenose dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day. For an interesting day out, take a scenic drive to Britain’s smallest city of St David’s and discover its 12th-century cathedral and medieval ruins of Bishops’s Palace, or take a sea safari around the off-shore island of Ramsey, cruising close to seabirds, seals and the occasional dolphin. Shops and pub 2 miles.

Open-plan living/dining room with doors to small patio and sloping lawns beyond. Kitchen area with modern fitted units. Conservatory. Double bedroom with en-suite wet room and toilet. First floor (sloping ceilings throughout): Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Bathroom with toilet.

Had a wonderful weekend here with a group of friends. The beautiful weather and scenery made for a fantastic visit! The privacy of the hot tub and the size of the grounds for us to sunbathe on was just perfect for us. Ms Evans, the caretaker, could not have been more helpful and we saw her just the right amount- at the start and end of the trip. We are quite a loud bunch when we get together and she raised no concerns which was appreciated. An amazing visit and will definitely be back!

We had the best weather, very hot couldn’t of wished for any better. Owner was very welcoming and friendly, left us to our own devices but was there if we needed her! We had stunning views and secenery around us and there was also two goats and the owners dog to be allowed to run around the farm! Could do with some room for improvement on a few appliances i.e. cooker and fridge. Also could do with thinner bed lining for the hot weather. Other than that everything was perfect and I would defineity look into going back there!

Beautiful location!!!Comfy cottage. Downstairs bedroom was short of cupboards/drawers to store clothes for a fortnight. Could do with some way of containing dogs - gates? We used chairs!

We had a lovely long weekend at Deri cottage. Even though the weather in March was not the best there was still plenty to do. Our two kids loved the hot tub as did we and our dogs enjoyed running around in the field alongside the cottage. The log burner was a nice feature too and kept us cosy at night. We would go again.

We stayed at the Deri cottage and when we arrived we were disappointed with the cottage, it looked lovely at first glance but when we went inside everything was very basic, nothing there at all apart from a T.V no music station, nothing to clean any dishes with, towels were very old, we forgot sugar and there was nothing like that there at all. There was a small amount of fire wood so had to buy more off them at £10 we also had to go out to the shops to buy all the extra basic's that would normally be provided for a cottage holiday. We couldn't use the hot tub until the Saturday. When we arrived on the Friday we were hoping to use it that eve. I understand it needs to be cleaned but if that's the case some notice that we wouldn't be able to use it on first night would be useful or you should find a way of being able to get it done quicker. We found yellow stains on the floor going through the downstairs bedroom, also the bed linen upstairs had blood stains on it. The downstairs bathroom was not very nice at all. The hot tub is not very private, everyone that lives in the main house can see you and also the cottage joining on, the outside space was not looked after, green walls around hot tub. Even though there were lots of faults with this cottage we decided we are here now so we'll just make the most of it, which we did, we had a lovely time but would definitely not stay here again. As animal lovers we did like that there were animals around the place to see, the goats were lovely. We do like staying at cottages every year and either we have been spoilt in other places and just expect too much or I don't know, but this was the most expensive we have stayed in, and it was the worst I am sorry to say. The best thing about this weekend is we arrived as boyfriend and girlfriend and left as fiance's so not all was bad.

I stayed in the DERI cottage with my husband our one year old, two friends came for the weekend and then my father and mother in law came to stay one night also. After a six hour car journey from Derbyshire; all of us agreed it was a wonderful place to stay, with the hot tub making our visit extra special and relaxing. The night sky was stunning. Definitely worth the travelling! Fantastic facilities and location second to none. We loved the layout of the cottage with the master double situated downstairs with an en-suite meaning that our friends could have their privacy with us using the bathroom upstairs. Beds extremely comfortable. We liked the original features that Nikki has thoughtfully preserved. Beautiful view of the river from our patio. We have a large log burner at home so my husband was very surprised to see how much heat the modest sized one in the cottage kicked out, he even managed to bank it in for the night for it to still be ticking over the following morning! Our son enjoyed running on the large lawn and watching the cebeebies channel after running around all day on the beach. He slept snugly in the travelcot provided at night. Nikki is a lovely person and great host. She was there to help without being in the least bit intrusive. After reading the negative reviews we decided to come with an open mind, with our group consisting of a young family, a young couple and an older couple i think we can span a number of categories and couldn't fault it, after speaking to our neighbour in the adjoining cottage she said she and her partner couldn't believe some of the less savoury comments either, and to be frank neither could we, so to clarify some of them; There is plenty of hot water and nothing wrong with the power of the showers. I needed to keep an eye on my e-mails while we were away i had no problem doing that or accessing FB. However we had come away to have a break from it all so didn't feel the need to spend huge chunks of the day using the wifi. The TV is a perfectly adequate size my son had no issues seeing what was on the screen whilst sat on the sofa and neither did we(!) We did a lot of cooking between us all, the only thing i couldn't find was a garlic crusher, but obviously the lack on one just meant we crushed it manually no problem. Not entirely sure what people are talking about regarding an apparent lack of knives, there were two paring knives a long serrated bread knife and steak knives as well as eating knives, and plenty of crockery for our use. There was a lighter to use to light the fire We really enjoyed every moment are can't wait to return.

Good holiday. Excellent location. Shame that the Wi-Fi was not functioning. A good sharp knife in the kitchen would have been handy but understand why not provided.
