Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Nestled on the edge of the Peak District National Park, Rosebeam Cottage is in the perfect location for walking enthusiasts to explore the surrounding area.

In a peaceful and elevated position, just a few minutes from the centre of vibrant Holmfirth, this end terrace charming cottage offers warm and comfortable accommodation in the heart of the beautiful Holme Valley. The paved courtyard to the front, complete with apple trees, offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. However, the location of the cottage, being typical of Holmfirth with steep narrow streets, steps and cobbles means people with limited mobility may struggle.
Located on the edge of the glorious Peak District National Park, there’s plenty for everyone, with art and craft galleries, shops, cafés, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs, together with endless opportunities for walking and cycling. Those brave enough can recreate the 2015 Tour de Yorkshire, or perhaps for those less energetic take the 10 mile tour to see film locations used in the record breaking BBC comedy Last of the Summer Wine. Holmfirth also has its very own vineyard which offers meals, tours and wine tasting, and then the Picturedrome Holmfirth is a perfect venue for live music and events. Shop and pub ¾ mile, restaurant ½ mile.

Overall a very pleasant and delightful accommodation. We had one dog with us and although the courtyard was lovely, especially for the sun in the afternoon and evening the downside for the dog was that there was no garden and therefore he could not go out on his own. The roads leading to the cottage were very narrow.

Loved the location and cottage was lovely as the weather was so good we sat outside a lot and had long walks. Things which could have been better. Hot water: can’t have a shower and flush the toilet or wash up at the same time. Would have liked 2 wine glasses and some glasses needed washing before use. This applies to a couple of other bits of kitchen equipment. Toilet door does not lock or shut which could have been very embarrassing for some. However, the bed was comfy sheets etc very good quality and clean plus there was other bits and pieces for us to use which we didn’t expect. Only other thing was recycling. The information was vague and we didn’t really know what to do with bottles and plastic so took them with us. More recycling info would be helpful.

The cottage is in an excellent location, with good views. Parking near the cottage can be a problem if a persons mobilty is poor. The equipment is excellent.

The cottage was very pleasant but if you are not a walker or cyclist locally very little to do .

The only negative was the low water pressure in the bathroom

Lovely cottage, position good if you don't mind hills but it's what you expect in Yorkshire! Town was walkable with plenty of amenities, we even managed to park in our allocated spot all week !

Let me start this review by saying this is a lovely cosy cottage with great views, comfortable furnishings, very clean and with excellent eating shopping and places of interest nearby. That having been said some warnings for future holiday stayers: we contacted the number given to us as the owner/caretaker and spoke to someone who said he worked in Asia (we think) and to contact the number in the welcome pack when we got into the cottage. The key is in a safe and we had the number. But we had 2 problems. 1. We could not find the cottage from the instructions or our sat nav. It is complicated to find, and of course theres no-one to ring for help. 2. When we finally got in there was no welcome pack. We looked everywhere particularly at the end of the week when it turned cold and we wanted to put the heating on. We just wrapped ourselves in duvets in the end. It is a lovely cottage but there is absolutely no guarantee of nearby paarking. The lanes are narrow, steep and parking is first come first served with not enough spaces: a real issue as my husband was on crutches. Driving to and from the cottage is not for the faint hearted. I dont think I would return. So many of the issues we had could have been resolved by an information booklet and someone on the end of the phone. We had neither. If you are confident that you can cope with that fine. Its a lovely comfortable cottage. But you have been warned.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- I'm pleased that you liked the cottage. Sorry to hear about the heating - it turns out that the batteries had run out on the thermostat. The changeover team should have spotted that. If you had called the caretaker they would have resolved that for you. I just called the Wyndham team to query the accuracy of the arrival instructions. To be honest it is a little difficult to find the cottage on the windey streets of Holmfirth but the instructions provided do sound accurate and they do provide a warning not to follow the sat nav. And as a result of our conversation on your arrival, the contact details given by Wyndham have now been amended to provide the correct contact number. They do tell me that they provide a customer support number for you to call should there be a problem.

Did not get our holiday as owner misled me regarding ability to park my vehicle at allocated parking at cottage and not offered any compensation totally unacceptable. As website states allocated parking.
