We had trouble getting hold of the home owner, who thankfully finally answered her phone when we arrived at the property. The house was not as clean as we first thought, no welcome pack, no comments book, no local information or instructions on who to contact etc. A lovely house, however no WiFi as advertised because the house has been sold by the owner & disconnected the sky/phone/WiFi.

After reading recent reviews we were concerned about some problems which kept being mentioned we contacted the agent for some kind of assurance that these problems would have been resolved. After trying to contact the owner Mrs Marion Jayne, for four days the agent had to send a recorded delivery letter in order to get her to respond. She assured them that everything would be put right . On our arrival we were very disappointed to find A . The fridge was very dirty B . The tumble dryer had not been replaced but at 7.30 two men turned up with a replacement which was obviously second hand, dirty, filter full of debris and a leg missing. C. The bathroom and in particular the shower had not been cleaned. Mould in the shower and fan still not working. D. The WiFi did not work because it had been disconnected we were told, due to the bill not being paid. This review highlights some of the main issues but not all. We understand that the cottage is up for sale which could explain the lack of interest by the owner.

We’d stayed here before and were really looking forward to it, but were disappointed to find that the main bed hadn’t been changed and there was some rice in it. Pretty disgusting. The landlady didn’t bother to answer her phone and we had to complain to the website and were then greeted by a rather confrontational cleaner who blamed it on someone who may have known where the key was and had entered the house between her leaving and us arriving. The rest of the house was reasonably clean, however. There are some issues with the house, possibly caused by the landlady’s total lack of interest. The lounge TV retuning to enable ITV3 but the remote doesn’t seem to work properly. The tumble drier only does one load before it overheats and then needs to cool down for hours. Only Half of the jets in the hot tub actually work. The extractor fan in the bathroom doesn’t seem to work. No Sky TV (I must check the description of the property), although there was a SKy box. The excuse about the WiFi in rural locations being unreliable doesn’t really wash - talking to neighbours seemed to prove that it was a cost cutting exercise. Although inconvenient, the local pub did have reliable WiFi. Some mould in the shower, paint peeling off the ceiling in the shower, (above the shower head), the edges of the shower tray was very dirty. The front door is awkward to close; make sure you raise the handle up, or it will swing open. Consumables provided are: 4 rolls of toilet paper, a few dishwasher tablets and a bottle of handwash in each of the two toilets and kitchen and two sponges for the dishes. There was a box of matches and firewood. There is no: rinsing aid, dishwasher salt, bin bags, recycling bin, food waste bin, tin foil, dishcloth (only two tea towels), no teapot, no potato peeler, no baking tray, no instructions for the oven/microwave, no instructions for the TV in the lounge. As Marion doesn’t seem to be interested, those wishing to rent the cottage may wish to know what they should expect. It is in a lovely spot and we like the house - it’s just a pity about the attitude from Marion. I’ve got to add finally, that Steve is wonderful.

The WiFi never worked, the tumble dryer didn’t work. There were no baking trays so we couldn’t use the oven or grill. No bin liners. I would have expected a welcome pack as in previous cheaper properties

location to many places perfect, cottage was very nice although the sitting room was quite dark , black carpets did not help to lighten the room. We had to report that the tumble dryer was not working and was advised that it would be sorted out the following day, however this did not happen at all during the week. Broad band connection was not working at all.

Lovely open plan kitchen/diner/conservatory with good quality fittings etc. Good view of river Severn from bedroom & patio at end of garden. Enjoyed hot tub when weather permitted. White Hart nearby v good food & allowed dogs in bar area. Good for peace & quiet which we wanted but Broadoak is only a Hamlet & you need a car to get around. Beautiful scenery & interesting places to visit eg Gloucester, Cheltenham, Ross on Wye, Chepstow & Monmouth. Disappointed Wifi didn't work (router) as one of reasons chose this property. However Wifi available in pub!

very quiet and relaxing. lovely friendly neighbourhood. we needed to add one or two small but basic items to the kitchen ( eg baking trays), but this didnt diflect from our enjoyment. Kids were frustrated about the lack of WiFi as the cottage had been specifically booked with this facility so not as advertised. We will definately book again, when the wifi is re-instated.

Fabulous position beside the river and loved watching the seven bore. Some of the kitchen equipment is a little tired and could do with replacing e.g. Set of knives with loose and broken handles, pan lids with broken handles in lids. The biggest issue for us was lack of wifi which we overcame by purchasing our own BT fon which suggests there is reception but the house router wasn't working. A message to the owner received no reply! Loved the hot tub.
