So many good things about this house but I wouldn't go back because the decor was off-putting, there was no provision for hanging or drying wet coats ( and it does rain there!). The cooker extractor didn't work - one had to leave the back door open. It could have been the perfect place but just spoiled by this.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We are sorry you would not return to Rock Villas, we can understand that the decoration is not to everyone's taste, but we have actually had quite a few positive comments about it. With regard to the cooker extractor,it does work exactly as it is designed, we used it ourselves last night but i suppose it isn't as effective as the extractor's that extract direct to outside. We do not have a room specifically for drying coats but we do supply a maiden that you can hang coats on near to a radiator or in the conservatory as we do, we also supply an oil filled radiator for the conservatory. We hope these issues didn't spoil your visit too much.

Rock Villas was clean and comfortable, with all the kitchen equipment we needed. It's a lovely setting in the Arnside and Silverdale AONB. We visited Leighton Moss, Gait Barrows, Arnside Knott, Warton Crag and Beetham Fairy Steps, amongst other walks in the area. We missed the specialist butterflies of the area, but saw ospreys and lots of other wildlife. We enjoyed breakfast in the conservatory, overlooking the garden, and spent evenings watching roe deer, tawny owls and bats in the field beyond the garden.

A couple of dog friendly cafes in the village would be nice off season. Also pillows are really hard so probably need changing. Some soup bowls would come in handy. Overall a very pleasant week.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thanks for your feedback - we are glad you had a good week. Sorry to hear the pillows were too hard for you, we have actually replaced a couple of pillows this week, but I suppose it depends what you are used to, we think they are quite soft. Regarding the soup bowls, we thought the cereal dishes could also be used for soup, but we will think about purchasing some soup bowls also. The only cafe in the village, The Wolfhouse, is dog friendly; there are always people with dogs there, inside and outside. There is also a new cafe/ tearoom due to open in the village centre this spring, although I don’t know if it is going to be dog friendly yet. The three pubs in the village are dog friendly also.
