South Devon’s Gara Mill is the kind of development that blends in to the countryside, and the impressive Scandinavia-inspired design of its lodges means guests can enjoy everything they love about the great outdoors before retreating to a little luxury at the end of a busy day.

Nestled in the heart of sleepy woodland, the lodges’ open plan living spaces encourage guests to take time out together and unwind, and floor to ceiling picture windows mean the leafy scenery is never more than a glance away.

Thanks to the lodges’ private decked balconies, family dinners at Gara Mill can take place right beneath the canopy of rustling trees, and the development’s goat meadow makes a popular spot to settle down with a picnic and enjoy views across the Devon countryside.

Riverside Lodge is a contemporary yet welcoming lodge, set within some of the most beautiful woodland that South Devon has to offer. The lodge was designed with relaxation in mind, making it the perfect retreat if you’re after peace and quiet and the feeling of being close to nature.

Inside, the lodge’s modern yet homely furnishings make this an ideal base to switch off the mobile phones and relax with the family. Step out onto the decking to enjoy a meal and listen to the birds, or venture slightly further afield to the goat meadow - a great spot for a picnic on a sunny day.

Riverside is the perfect place to enjoy the countryside with children. Enjoy the outdoors before returning to your lodge with crisp linens and home comforts. You can also relax on the decking area - the perfect place to take in the wonderful surroundings.

There’s plenty to explore in the area surrounding Gara Mill. Slapton Sands is just a short drive away, where you can enjoy a day relaxing on the beach, or join the surfers at nearby Bantham. A trip to Dartmouth is a must, and for something a little different, try your hand at crab fishing on the jetty at Dittisham.

The location is very tranquil, but difficult to find without satnav.. Number 9 (riverside ) could do with an in depth clean ,in particular the oven and oven pans which we would not use. Otherwise it was reasonably comfy, but not luxery. The lounge would benefit from another coffee table. The climb up to the goat field is not for the faint hearted and once arrived at was definately not suitable for children as it is over grown with deep bracken. sorry to be critical , but overall we enjoyed our stay

The lodge is in a very private and peaceful location, and we had a great time. Woods were a great peaceful location, children loved playing in the stream. Lots of places to visit nearby, Loved Dartmouth. The roads (single track lanes) to reach the lodge are very narrow, with few passing places. After a couple of journeys found some lanes better than others, and made sure to use those. Sat nav treats all the lanes as national speed limit roads, so just picks the shortest route as the crow flies, but these are not the easiest to navigate.
