Description

Overlooking the River Severn, Riverbank Cottage is a charming cottage in the centre of Ironbridge, ideal for exploring Shropshire.

As the name suggests, Riverbank Cottage is tucked away on the banks of the River Severn, enjoying impressive views over the water. This traditional cottage is an end terrace, and has been thoughtfully renovated to provide spacious accommodation over 4 floors. Its prominent position within the town, along with its own parking, makes the property ideal for visitors wanting to explore the area. The famous Iron Bridge is less than a few hundred yards away, as is the town centre’s shops, bars and restaurants. Some of the more notable museums are also within walking distance.

Ironbridge is a superb base for exploring this area of Shropshire; there’s Telford, Ludlow, Shrewsbury, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth to name a few points of interest in the vicinity. Activity centres can be found in Much Wenlock and Condover near Shrewsbury. There’s also horse racing at Ludlow and the National Trust property Attingham Park nearby. If you’re willing to go further afield, Powis Castle, Chirk Castle and Erddig are all within an hour’s drive on the other side of the England-Wales border. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Clean comfortable cottage over four floors. Well appointed and equipped for a holiday home. Lovely to have the balcony leading off from the lounge. However we were disappointed with the overgrown garden, as this meant it wasn't possible to use the seating area on the lower terrace, and the swing seat to enjoy the view over the river. However this is easily rectified and we would be happy to stay again

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; So glad you liked the cottage and very happy you would stay again. Sorry the garden had got a bit out of hand, all sorted now. See you again soon.

I very much enjoyed my stay at this cottage. However the welcome basket could have been much better. The Man at Eleys pie shop where I picked up the keys from was a very nice man. Overall I thought the cottage was splendid and would recommend it for anyone to stay. It was in layers at the back the same as the cottage, with ample seating areas outside. I watered their garden a few times as it was lovely outside and had a pleasant lady next door whom I had a chat with. The local people were lovely and friendly too.

Response on behalf of the owner; Many thanks for you wonderful review. We take on board your comment on the hamper and we are looking into revamping the products. Thank you for watering the garden, its been such a lovely but dry summer so far I'm not complaining.. We hope to see you again in the near future.

Cannot give a bad comment the cottage was lovely extremely comfortable, the folder left with information of local amenities was spot on. We had a wonderful time and plan to return next year for another idyllic holiday brake. Highly recommend.

Beautiful cottage, very well equipped and comfortable. Secure parking right opposite, but a good range of shops and restaurants, and the miles of trails in and around the gorge, meant we barely used the car all week! Only small niggle was that the cottage's position right on the main road meant that traffic noise was a bit of a problem at times, particularly on the weekend nights at pub closing time.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; So glad you enjoyed your stay in Riverbank Cottage. It's ideal location in the village does mean there is a bit of traffic at the front particularly over the peak holiday season which we are now entering, hope this didn't cause you too much inconvenience. Hope the rear of the property made up for the front as the terraced gardens with gorge and river views are so lovely.

An excellent location, comfortable cottage, although the basement area is not so usable in the winter.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Glad you enjoyed your stay in the cottage. I would like to know why the basement was not so usable in winter. There is central heating with two basement radiators and we always provide an extra plug in heater, usually that's for the summer when central heating isn't required, but can also be used in extreme temperatures. Its not something that any guests have mentioned before. If you mentioned it I could have extended the timer or put it on constant. Let me know next time you visit, hope to see you again soon.
