Ideal touring base
Renovated in April 2023, this holiday lodge is comfortably furnished throughout. River Rest commands a waterside setting, overlooking the river basin, leading off the River Yare.
It features open-plan living with water views through two French doors leading out onto the veranda and steps down to the garden and water’s edge. This is a perfect base for relaxing with fishing available in season (licence required). The lodge is situated with private quay-headed mooring, within the owners’ small private marina. Ideal for bringing your own or hired boat and mooring directly outside or bringing your kayaks and paddleboards. There is a bait fridge at the property.
The village of Brundall lies within the heart of the Norfolk Broads National Park and is the centre for boat building/boat hire (pre-booking recommended), and has its own railway station, shop/post office, mini-market, takeaway, fish and chip shop, fine restaurant and local pubs all serving good food, one across the river and the other a short stroll.
An ideal touring base, with Great Yarmouth easily accessible by car or train. The surrounding seaside towns and villages of Gorleston-on-Sea, Hemsby, Caister-on-Sea, Winterton, California, Newport and Hopton-on-Sea, all offer entertainment for a family holiday, as well as the pretty Broadland villages, countryside and Norfolk’s finest sandy beaches are easily explored by car.
Also accessible by train is the fine city of Norwich, 8 miles away, with its excellent shopping, theatre, restaurants, inns, cafés, castle and museum.
For fun-filled family days out there is Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens with a renowned collection of Asian mammals including birds; you will also find reptiles in the pleasantly landscaped gardens. Also of interest are the neighbouring villages of Strumpsham, with a steam museum and rally during the month of May, and Strumpshaw Fen RSPB. Reedham offers Pettitts Animal Adventure Park and a riverside pub and BeWilderworld and Pleasurewood Hills are also close by.
Having a perfect location for any type of holiday, you can be as active or as laid back as you want to be, the warmest of welcomes await you all year round. Beach 12 miles. Supermarket 1 mile, pub, restaurant and train station ½ mile.
