River Cottage is a beautiful, Grade II listed, 18th-century terraced house, located on one of Lancashire’s oldest, yet best preserved cobbled streets in the heart of Croston.Set over three floors and fully renovated in 2019, the cottage is warm, cosy and full of character, and benefits from an enclosed south facing garden to the rear backing onto the River Yarrow. A short distance from the cottage is a cobbled packhorse bridge dating back to the 15th century, which crosses the river. River Cottage is located in a beautiful conservation area, an ideal spot for long walks.Located between Chorley and Southport, Croston really is a picture postcard village, being one of Lancashire’s most frequently photographed villages, and offers a good selection of local food and drink establishments, all within easy walking distance of the property. Renowned for its community spirit, several events are held here across the year including the Christmas Fair. There is also an abundance of surrounding countryside to explore. Croston railway station is just a 10 minute walk away and offers services to Preston, Ormskirk and Blackpool. Further afield is Martin Mere nature reserve, the classic Victorian seaside town of Southport and even the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks. Beach 14 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
