Brand new (completed in November 2022), River Bay commands a waterside setting, overlooking the private river basin, leading off the River Yare. The lawned garden leads directly to the water’s edge. This is a base perfect for relaxing in, with fishing available in season (licence required). This detached lodge is situated on the water’s edge, within the owners’ small private marina, which feeds from the River Yare.
The village of Brundall lies within the heart of the Norfolk Broads National Park. It is the centre for boat building and boat hire (pre-booking recommended), and has its own railway station, shop/post office, mini-market, hairdresser, takeaway, fish and chip shop, fine restaurant and local pubs all serving good food. One pub is just across the river, another is within a short stroll.
An ideal touring base, with Great Yarmouth is easily accessible by car or train. The surrounding seaside towns and villages of Gorleston-on-Sea, Hemsby, Caister-on-Sea, Winterton, California, Newport and Hopton-on-Sea, all offering entertainment for a family holiday, as well as the pretty Broadland villages, countryside, and Norfolk’s finest sandy beaches are easily explored by car.
Also accessible by train is the fine city of Norwich only 8 miles away, with its excellent shopping, theatre, restaurants, inns, cafés, castle and museum. For fun-filled family days out there is Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens with a renowned collection of Asian mammals including birds; you will also find reptiles in the pleasantly landscaped gardens. Also of interest are the neighbouring villages of Strumpsham, with a steam museum and rally during the month of May, and Strumpshaw Fen RSPB. Reedham offers Pettitts Animal Adventure Park and a riverside pub and BeWilderworld and Pleasurewood Hills are also close by.
