Set in a fabulous secluded location, surrounded by panoramic views of the Black Mountains, Rhiwddu Barns is located within the Brecon Beacons National Park (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and offers peace and tranquillity in abundance. There are three semi-detached cottages (refs ON8, ON9 and OP1), converted from traditional farm buildings which have been sympathetically restored and furnished to a very good standard. Outside, there are private patio areas where you can sit, relax and unwind, whilst watching the peregrine falcons and red kites soar over the magnificent scenery.

Also on the same site is Rhiwddu Farmhouse (ref UKC3003), a beautiful, detached Welsh farmhouse dating back to the early 17th century. It is steeped with character and history, with its solid stone walls, inglenook fireplace, bread oven, spectacular views over the Towy Valley and links to ancient Drovers trails. Sleeping up to six people, the farmhouse provides all that is needed for a relaxing and luxurious stay. The kitchen facilities are perfect for even the most adventurous of chefs, with an oil-fired range, as well as an electric oven and hob, and a large American-style fridge/freezer with water dispenser and ice maker. In the living room, relax in comfortable leather sofas in front of the wood burner, which also has a large TV and sound station. There is even an office with a desk and chair for those of you who can’t completely escape work or studies. There is a large enclosed garden, and if you are bringing your pet on holiday, there is the addition of a dog run. There is even a private gate leading from the garden directly onto the mountainside. The views all around are simply wonderful, overlooking both the beautiful Towy Valley and the Brecon Beacons National Park. There are also views of Llyn Y Fan Fach (Lake of the Small Hill) from the garden, which is a nearby beauty spot perfect for walkers, steeped in legend and said to be linked to King Arthur. It is equally beautiful at night, the area is listed as having Dark Sky status, and the 360 degree views that you are able to get of the stars, and the moon rising above the hill in front of the farmhouse, are simply spectacular.

The Brecon Beacons is a natural playground for ramblers, birdwatchers and mountain bikers alike, offering breathtaking views with fantastic walks amidst the tumbling waterfalls and shimmering lakes. Nearby, the ancient market towns of Llandelio and Llandovery are famous for their strong Welsh culture and offer plenty of shops, traditional pubs and restaurants. Explore the historic castles of the west, including Dryslwyn, Carreg Cennen and Dynefwr. For family days out, visit the National Botanic Garden of Wales, Dan Yr Ogof Caves and Dolaucoth Goldmines. Within an hour’s drive, enjoy the thrilling leisure parks of Pembrokeshire or visit Oakwood, Folly Farm and Bluestone, set in the popular coastal resort of Tenby. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
Adventurers Abode (ref ON8), Ramblers Cottage (ref ON9), Beacons Barn (ref OP1) and Rhiwddu Farmhouse (ref UKC3003) can be booked together to accommodate up to 17 guests.

Great position, great couple, great house . Only issue it’s a trek for the nearest supermarket. But there again that’s what the appeal was. Hope to return
