The cottage it self was well equipped and comfortable, unfortunately there was a main road right at the front and a country lane at the rear of the property, hence the noise from the traffic was horrendous. The first thing we noticed when entering the property was the smell of damp, quite a bit of the plaster was peeling away from the dining room walls. The cottage was generally clean on the surface but attention is definitely needed to the areas behind and under the furniture, my dogs toy rolled under the welsh dresser and upon retrieving it, it was absolutely covered in dust, fluff and dog hairs. There were quite a few cobwebs all over the cottage, again, a feather duster would not go amiss. The cottage was well furnished but was let down by the lack of cleanliness and noisy traffic. We were looking for a quite few days away but felt like we were in the middle of a race course.

Had a really good short break at Reed Cottage and have fallen in love with Dorset. There are some great local hill walks and the coast is a short distance away. The cottage itself is beautiful inside, 3 spacious bedrooms and has a modern feel. Wi-fi kept the teenagers happy and of course it is pet friendly. It is on a main road but this in no way was detrimental - the road is generally not that busy and sound insulation is very good. There are some lovely country views from the upstairs windows. So ok, if you want to sit in the garden it might not be for you. But I can say without hesitation that I would stay here again. Cleanliness generally good, perhaps under sofas and hidden areas need more attention, but hey, I have the same issues at home! The stairs are very steep, definitely not for the elderly and others need to take care. But all-in-all, exceeded my expectation.

Probably the best equipped and most practical dog friendly cottage I have stayed in. Lower marks are based on factors outside the owners control such as the internet speed and lack of amenities in the immediate village. Pub nearby is like something out of The League of Gentlemen but possibly worth a visit for that reason alone. The nearby hill fort is a great and safe place to walk a dog though and has great views on a clear day. The location is excellent for exploring the towns and villages on the Jurassic Coast from Weymouth to Beer within a relatively short drive and the fish and chip van in Broadwindsor on a Tuesday which you can eat in the local dog friendly pub is a great idea. Overall an excellent cottage which is great for dog owners, with helpful and friendly owners.
