Located only 4 miles from the A1, so ideal for visiting all the county, the Northumberland Heritage Coast has miles of golden sands and is peppered with castles. Druridge Bay Country park is only 3 miles away and Alnwick Castle is only 10½ miles away and famed for its appearance in Harry Potter. The magnificent, and not to be missed, historic Holy Island is only 34 miles away and visitors to Northumberland should not leave without visiting this truly historic site, magical at low tide. Nearby Warkworth and Amble are perfect for a day trip, and Amble has a working harbour, plenty of cafés, shops and restaurants, whilst Warkworth, only 3 miles, has a 12th century castle and a picture postcard high street with great pubs and cafés. Travel south and you come to Tynemouth with sandy beaches, up market bistros and a priory. The historic city of Newcastle upon Tyne is only 27 miles away. Kielder Water, set in the International Dark Sky Park, is only 48 miles and Hadrian’s Wall to the west makes a great day trip.
